Job Description

We are looking for an Interim Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) to cover a period of maternity leave.  The (CRO) leads all revenue generation and audience growth activity across Mercury13 and it’s portfolio of women’s football clubs. Operating at holding-company level, this role is responsible for sustaining and accelerating group-wide commercial performance while aligning club-level execution with shared strategic standards.
The CRO oversees sponsorship, ticketing, licensing, retail, and audience growth functions, ensuring that Mercury13 presents a coherent, scalable, and compelling commercial proposition to partners, fans, and stakeholders.
This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with club leadership teams, central agencies, and key external partners.
 
Key Responsibilities
Group-Level Revenue Leadership
  • Own and drive the group-wide revenue strategy across Mercury13 and its clubs which includes;
    • Lead sponsorship conversations that are multi-club or group in nature, in partnership with sales agency of record;
    • Identify and unlock incremental revenue opportunities through bundled rights, shared assets, and cross-club propositions;
    • Lead execution of merch and retail implementation across Group and Clubs ○ Ensure commercial targets are met or exceeded during the maternity cover period, maintaining momentum and partner confidence.
Club Revenue Coordination
  • Support execution through alignment and strategic support for all revenue-generating activities across all clubs, including:
    • Sponsorship
    • Ticketing and matchday revenue
    • Licensing, retail and merchandising
  • Support clubs with best practice frameworks, playbooks, and shared learnings while respecting local market nuances.
  • Act as a central point of alignment between club commercial teams and group strategy.
Partner Asset Delivery & Integration 
  • Ensure sponsorship asset delivery is effectively coordinated across clubs and aligned with audience growth strategies.
  • Work closely with marketing, content, and social teams to ensure partner activations are authentic, impactful, and measurable.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, delivery, and renewal readiness. 
  • Lead on asset management tracking ensuring processes and systems are adopted across all Clubs
Audience Growth & Fan Development 
  • Set and maintain group standards for audience growth initiatives across clubs. 
  • Lead on Group’s first-party data strategy execution in collaboration with Chief Strategy Officer and centralized agency of record, ensuring consistency in data capture, segmentation, and activation. 
  • Lead on Group tentpole activation execution across all Clubs supporting commercial and audience targets 
  • Oversee social media strategy and performance across the group and individual clubs, supporting alignment in content, growth objectives, and commercial priorities. 
  • Champion fan-first thinking, ensuring audience growth efforts directly support long-term revenue potential. 
Skills & Experience
Essential 
  • Senior-level commercial leadership experience in sport, media, entertainment, or a related sector.
  • Proven track record of driving sponsorship revenue, ideally across multi-asset or multi-brand environments.
  • Strong understanding of audience growth, digital platforms, and first-party data strategies.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders across central and local teams.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
Desirable 
  • Experience in football or women’s sport. 
  • Familiarity with agency-led commercial models.
  • International or multi-market experience across Europe.
