We’re looking for an Assistant Coach to support the Women's First team at Bristol City Women's. This role is central to supporting the Head Coach in delivering the club’s football philosophy, performance objectives, and the day‑to‑day operation of the team.
This is a great opportunity to contribute across training design and delivery, tactical planning, player development, and match preparation. Working as part of an multidisciplinary team, the Assistant Coach will help foster a high‑performance environment that reflects the club’s identity and supports its long‑term ambitions.
What you can expect to be involved in
Coaching & Training Delivery
Support the design and delivery of high-quality training sessions aligned to the club’s football philosophy, game model and weekly tactical plan
Lead and support unit and positional coaching within team sessions
Contribute to the planning and execution of periodised training programmes in collaboration with Performance Services staff
Ensure training standards reflect a high-performance environment, with clear detail, intensity, and coaching clarity
Tactical Planning & Match Preparation
Support the development of weekly game plans, including tactical strategies and training content aligned to upcoming opposition
Contribute to opposition analysis alongside the analysis department, translating insights into actionable coaching points
Assist in the preparation and delivery of team meetings, ensuring clarity and alignment of tactical messaging
Support in-game coaching through observation, feedback, and tactical adjustments
Player Development
Contribute to individual player development plans in collaboration with the player and coach development manager and multidisciplinary team
Deliver individual and small-group coaching interventions to support technical and tactical growth
Provide regular, constructive feedback to players to drive performance and development
Support the integration and development of emerging academy players into the first-team environment
Matchday Responsibilities
Support all matchday operations including warm-ups, tactical reinforcement, and player management
Assist the Head Coach in decision-making processes during matches
Provide real-time observations and feedback to inform tactical adjustments
Collaboration & MDT Working
Work closely with Analysis, Performance, Medical, and Recruitment departments to ensure alignment across all performance areas
Contribute to a fully integrated multidisciplinary team environment
Support communication and alignment between staff to maximise player performance and availability
Culture & Environment
Uphold and reinforce the club’s values, standards, and identity in all aspects of the role
Contribute to a positive, high-performance team culture that promotes accountability, growth, and resilience
Act as a role model for professionalism, behaviours, and standards within the environment
What you bring
Qualifications & Experience
UEFA A Licence (or equivalent)
Proven experience coaching within an elite or high-performance football environment
Strong understanding of tactical principles, game models, and player development
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team structure
Knowledge of analysis tools and data-informed coaching practices
