JOB TITLE: Academy Scout (North West England)

DEPARTMENT: Academy Recruitment

LOCATION:  Remote (travel required)

CONTRACT: Fixed-Term until 30/06/2027. 20 hours a week across 4 of 7 working days. 2 of these 4 days should be Saturday and Sunday.

 

JOB FUNCTION: To provide accurate and actionable information on external players from U13+ for the purposes of player recruitment, utilising an extensive knowledge and networks within the local area, scouting of matches and provision of reports.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •      Attend live matches and watch games on video, to produce detailed, objective player reports in line with the CFC scouting standards, procedures and timeframes
  •      Provide player recommendations supported by evidence-based observations and clear rationale
  •      Undertake video clipping of highlighted players to support internal discussions and decision making
  •      Support the North Scouting Cell with the creation of players lists for presentation to senior staff
  •      Assist in the gathering of context, background information and wider intelligence on key players of interest
  •      Contribute to the maintenance and accuracy of internal databases, ensuring all information is kept up to date
  •      Scout at tournaments and events as directed by the Senior Scout and Recruitment Leadership (International travel for scouting coverage may be required as part of the role)
  •      Attend and actively participate in recruitment meetings, reviews and CPD sessions
  •      Support broader Academy Recruitment projects and initiatives as required 

 

 

MEASUES OF PERFORMANCE:

  •      Minimum of 4 live and video matches per week, with a yearly ratio of 60:40 live to video
  •      Quality and timeliness of reports & recommendations
  •      Development of trusted contacts and knowledge across the area

 

 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:

  •      Valid Passport and driving licence
  •      Minimum of FA Level 2 Talent ID Qualification or UEFA B Coaching Licence
  •      Fluent in English

 

Experience:

Essential

  •      Minimum 2 years scouting experience at a professional level, with a strong understanding of academy football and youth development pathways.
  •       Extensive knowledge of the geographic area and key football networks within it
  •       Production of clear, concise, and insightful scouting reports with attention to detail
  •       Comfortable in relaying information clearly to senior staff
  •       Highly computer literate in office suite and capability to learn to use in-house systems

 

Desirable

  •     Familiarity with video analysis or clipping software
