The Charlotte FC Academy vision is to provide a high-performance environment for the most talented, high-potential young soccer players from across the Carolinas and beyond. Our mission is to develop high-level players that can be successful in Major League Soccer (MLS) and beyond. With a holistic, long-term development approach, we strive to help young men reach their highest potential both on and off the field.
Position Summary
This assistant coach position provides direct support to staff and players in our MLS NEXT program. The role is an opportunity to work with the club’s top prospects on our U14, U15, U16, and U18 teams. The desire and ambition to work as part of a collective team, and for constant personal and professional growth, is critical for our players and staff alike.
Primary Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Assist Head Coaches with training session design and execution
- Assist with match preparation and advanced scouting
- Assist and collaborate on Individual Development Plans (IDP) for all players
- Attend all matches and travel with Academy teams as required.
- Provide formal and in-formal player reviews at the direction of the club.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- USSF “A” or “B” coaching license (or foreign equivalent)
- At least 3 years of coaching experience
- Experience within a professional youth development environment preferred
- Knowledge of the MLS Player Development Pathway
- Valid US Driver’s License.
- Availability to work in non-traditional settings, and flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Must pass pre-employment screens.
- Excellent Skills in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint.
- Video editing and presentation capabilities
- Must pass pre-employment screening
- Must be eligible to work in the United States

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position operates in a professional setting and on-field training environment. Must be comfortable with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word and other platforms. Local travel to events will be required.
- Must be able to attend all Charlotte FC Academy matches, home and away
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to remain sitting for up to 8 hours at a desk and computer.
- Ability to remain standing/walking for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, and endure weather conditions, including rain, wind, high and low temperatures, etc.
- Must be able to work in non-traditional settings, and work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
