Job Title: Technical Director
Location: Fort McMurray, AB


Position Overview

The Technical Director will take the lead role behind Fort McMurray Youth Soccer Association (FMYSA)
programming by guiding and representing our vibrant youth soccer programs. You'll lead our House League,
Summer Camps, and Fury Competitive Academy, helping us achieve our goals in nurturing young soccer talent
in Fort McMurray. Reporting to the FMYSA President, you'll play a key role in fostering a welcoming, safe, and
inclusive environment for everyone.


Key Responsibilities

● Develop both short-term and long-term (five-year) technical plans for FMYSA.
● Develop a program plan to help improve the youth club teams.
● Attend and spend time collaborating with the Grassroots and Competitive Stream programs.
● Implement and conduct FMYSA technical programs while actively reviewing programs for improvements to
support growth of organization.
● Provide training, coaching resources, and support to all coaches within the club.
● Conduct skill development clinics and training sessions for club coaches and players.
● Identify players within the club for further opportunities at a provincial, university and professional level.
● Recruit and appoint coaches for the select Fury teams ahead of tryouts.
● Liaise with governing soccer bodies, university programs, professional clubs, and senior programs.
● Attend and participate in special events, tournaments, fundraises, board meetings and community events.
● Participate in hosting Provincial Championships or tournaments.
● Maintain a positive and professional relationship with coaches, parents, team members, volunteers, and the
FMYSA board.
● Implement a coaching strategy for all FMYSAs coaches to follow.
● Liaise with Keyano College soccer players and lead them to become coaches in all FMYSA youth programs.
● Ensure budgets are taken into considerations when planning programing and inventory.
● Research on and implement additional revenue opportunities, i.e. seasonal camps, local leagues,
tournaments, high performance and developmental academies, clinics, etc.
● Additional duties as required to ensure FMYSA is providing the necessary support required and full
functionality of the organization.


Required Qualifications

● Certified Canada Soccer B Diploma is a minimum requirement. Must be willing and able to continue coach
education regularly as programs become available.
o A willingness to complete if not currently certified is required.
o Canada Soccer A Diploma is a strong asset.

● Knowledge of CSA Coach Development pathway
● Post-secondary education in a field such as Kinesiology, Sports Management Diploma, Sports Coaching or
related preferred.
● Previous experience working with various levels including mini and club players and coaches, and high-level
players and coaches.
● Leadership and collaboration skills with an extensive player/coach/team program development background.
● Understanding of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
● First Aid Certification and understanding of implementation.
● Effective written and oral communication skills.
● Strong interpersonal skills with a customer first approach.
● Maintain high ethics and conduct yourself in a professional and polite manner.
● Flexibility to respond to changing priorities while remaining organized and efficient.
● Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with occasional conflicting deadlines.
● A valid Alberta Driver’s Class 5 Licence is an asset.
● Provide a Police Information Check.


What We Offer

• Salary Range: $75-85K Annual Salary
• Schedule: Opportunity for a flexible full-time permanent schedule working 40hrs per week; must be available
evenings and weekends.
• Office Location: Syncrude Sports & Wellness Center, Unit 1237 - 9908 Penhorwood Street, Fort McMurray,
Alberta, T9H 5P3
