Academy Physical Development Coach - Part-time

Academy Physical Development Coach - Part-time (10 hours per week)

Birmingham City Football Club is on the rise.

With an incredible history dating back to 1875, Birmingham City Football Club is part of an exciting period of accelerated growth and modernisation and is playing its part in a once-in-a-generation opportunity to support the transformation of England’s second city as part of the Sports Quarter project.

With significant investment across our football, commercial, and community operations, we are rebuilding the Club for long-term success, on and off the pitch. The journey we’re on involves strengthening our structures, elevating our performance environments, growing our teams, and investing heavily in the people, processes and culture that will define the next chapter of Birmingham City FC.

We are looking for an Academy Schoolboy Physical Performance Coach (Part-Time) to join our Academy Performance Support Department and contribute to the delivery and continuous evaluation of the Academy Schoolboy Physical Development Programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the athletic development, performance and long-term progression of our Academy players.

Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide an integrated and player-centred support programme.
  • Contribute to regular player review processes, providing physical development insights and recommendations to inform individual development plans.
  • Communicate relevant programme updates and player information to key stakeholders as required.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with Academy coaching, medical and performance staff to support player development outcomes.

  • Collect, analyse and interpret physical performance data to support player development, programme evaluation and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records within the Football Intelligence Platform and other designated systems, including physical testing results, training loads, GPS and heart rate data, RPEs, wellbeing measures, attendance and intervention records.
  • Monitor and manage physical development databases to ensure information is accurate, current and accessible for reporting purposes.
  • Provide appropriate feedback to players and staff based on monitoring outcomes and performance data.
  • Contribute to Academy player performance reviews through the Football Intelligence Platform.

Professional Standards and Compliance

  • Manage data securely in line with GDPR and Club data protection procedures.
  • Engage in the Club competency framework, appraisal process and relevant continuing professional development.
  • Comply with Staff Handbook policies, particularly safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, data protection, health and safety, and safer working practices.
