Position Overview
The Technical Director (TD) provides technical leadership, operational oversight, and developmental direction for Triboro United’s Comprehensive Soccer Program (U7–U19). This role ensures that all teams and coaches operate within a unified developmental philosophy, consistent style of play, and club-wide standards for training, competition, and player experience. The Technical Director works in close collaboration with directors and senior coaches to maintain alignment across the organization.

This full-time position combines significant administrative and program management duties with on-field coaching. The TD serves as a coach mentor, curriculum architect, program manager and technical leader, responsible for elevating the quality, cohesion, accountability, and unifying vision across coaches, teams and programs. Summer Camp design and leadership collaboration is also required.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Oversee the technical and operational execution of all Boys Program teams (U7–U19) and ensure alignment with the club’s development philosophy, style of play, and standards.

  • Attend selected matches and training sessions across age groups to monitor quality and consistency.

  • Coordinate with administrative staff on scheduling, field usage, leagues, tournaments, and program logistics.

  • Prepare reports and updates for club leadership as requested, including program updates, technical content, compliance requirements, and administrative documentation.

Staff Development

  • Directly supervise and hold coaches accountable for performance, preparation, professionalism, and adherence to club standards, including clear expectations for training plans, match-day conduct, communication with families, and player development outcomes.

  • Mentor and evaluate head and assistant coaches through session observations, performance feedback, and ongoing development support; including goal setting, written feedback, improvement plans.

  • Lead internal coaching education, curriculum implementation, and technical meetings.

Player Development & Pathways

  • Direct all player placements, and roster processes for Triboro teams.

  • Ensure consistent, age-appropriate training methodology aligned with long-term development principles.

  • Support college recruitment efforts for U15–U19 players in collaboration with senior coaches and appropriate BOD committee members.

Coaching Responsibilities

  • Serve as Head Coach for up to two teams, leading all training design, match day management, player evaluations, and team communications.

  • Provide occasional coaching coverage to maintain training and match day continuity.

Qualifications

  • USSF C License required (or equivalent); or willingness to pursue within an agreed time frame. Bachelor’s degree.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring coaches or contributing to a unified club curriculum.

  • 5+ years of competitive youth coaching experience.

  • Familiarity with youth development frameworks, age-appropriate methodology, and long-term athlete development models.

  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and tournament travel.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills and comfort with scheduling platforms, club management systems, video analysis tools, and communication platforms and the technological tools used for such.

Work Schedule & Structure

  • Approximately 15–20 hours per week of administrative and leadership responsibilities in addition to on-field work.

  • Additional hours for coaching assigned teams.

  • 12-month position with weekend commitments and travel for competitions and club events for roughly 10 months each year.

  • Includes access to professional development opportunities in coordination with the club.
