Casual Early Years Football Coach (Wigan Athletic Community Trust)

Wigan Athletic Community Trust has an exciting new opportunity to join our football development team as a Casual Early Years Football Coach.

The successful candidate will deliver across our Little Latics programme, with the opportunity to also deliver across various football development programmes.

The role will require the successful candidate to be confident in planning and delivering football development sessions for 2-5-year-olds, as well as the ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across a variety of football development programmes.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• To plan and deliver sessions on the Little Latics early years provision to participants aged 2-5 years.
• Deliver content in line with the Wigan Athletic Community Trust 2–5-year-old curriculum.
• Be accountable for the high quality of provision whilst on session.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents/carers and partners to retain attendance at sessions to maintain high levels of engagement within the programme.
• Collect the required monitoring and consent information in line with the Community Trust Policies and Procedures.
• Provide a fun and friendly environment for the children to feel happy and supported

Qualifications:

(Essential)

• Level 2 qualification in sport or equivalent experience in leading activity sessions (Desirable)
• UEFA GK A Licence
• UEFA A Licence
• FA Advanced Youth Award (GK)

(Desirable)

• First aid qualification
• Recognised safeguarding qualification
• Qualification in Early Years provision
• Driving Licenses and access to transport.

Experience:

(Essential)

• Proven track record of planning and delivering Early Years provision for 2–5 year-olds.
• Experience in the delivery of football-based or fundamental skills activity to 2-5 year olds.
• Ability to differentiate sessions to meet the needs of all participants. (Desirable)
• At least a year’s experience working as a Lead Goalkeeping Coach at a Professional Academy
• Experience of a 1st team environment

(Desirable)

• Experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with parents/carers and participants.
• Experience of following a syllabus / scheme of work.
• Experience of providing feedback to parents.

• Ability to provide a fun, friendly and welcoming environment to children
• Ability to adapt activities to support ranging needs of participants
• Sound understanding of equality and diversity and its application in the role of a coach.
• Awareness of safeguarding issues when working with children and young people
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise own work
• Ability to work well on own and as part of a team
• Confident and articulate

• Knowledge of the Early Years curriculum and key milestones for children
