Player Benefits Administrator (Accident Fund & Boot Voucher Scheme)

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Player Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing and delivering key benefit programmes, including the PFA Accident Fund for former players and the Boot Voucher Scheme for current professionals and scholars. The role ensures players receive timely, accurate, and compliant support that promotes their welfare, safety, and professional development throughout their careers and into retirement. Acting as a trusted and knowledgeable point of contact, the post-holder provides guidance on benefit entitlements and programme delivery, enhancing the experience of both current and former players in line with union policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accident Fund Administration (Primary)

  • Administrate the day to day running of the PFA Accident Fund for former professional footballers, ensuring accurate processing of applications, assessments and awards in line with union policy.

  • Act as the main operational contact for former players seeking support from the Accident Fund, providing empathetic guidance and clear information.

  • Coordinate the intake, eligibility checks and documentation of all Accident Fund submissions, referring to relevant policy standards and liaising with the PFA’s trusted delivery partners.

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including welfare and medical advisors to assess eligibility, fund allocation and follow-up support.

  • Maintain confidential records and track expenditure and outcomes for the Accident Fund.

Boot Voucher Scheme Coordination (Current Professionals & Scholars)

  • Coordinate rollout of the Boot Voucher Scheme for current professionals and scholars, managing processes from voucher issuance through redemption and reporting.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, member clubs, academies and suppliers to ensure boot voucher eligibility criteria are understood and applied fairly across players and scholars.

  • Answer enquiries from current players and scholars regarding boot voucher entitlement, use and status.

General Benefits Administration & Player Support

  • Support the broader member benefits team by providing accurate information on benefits entitlements, deadlines and processes.

  • Prepare benefits communications, FAQs, process guides and updates for union members.

  • Keep benefit databases up to date and assist in periodic reporting and performance tracking.

  • Contribute to policy and process improvements for benefits operations.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to provide clear guidance on benefits and programme entitlements.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess individual circumstances and apply policy appropriately.

  • Approachable and low-ego personality.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

  • Positive and self-motivated attitude.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience managing or delivering employee or member benefit schemes.

  • Additional spoken language skills.

  • Experience of working in professional football or other sports.

  • A passion for football.
