The Role:

The Shift Plumbing Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, drainage and public health systems across the stadium and stadium campus properties. The role is critical to ensuring safe water supply, sanitation, and system reliability during high-occupancy events, match days, and non-event operations.

About You

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on plumbing, drainage and public health systems
  • Experience working on a shift pattern
  • Knowledge BMS operation and using CAFM systems.
  • Experience supporting live events or match-day operations

What you will bring

  • Operate, maintain, and fault-find plumbing, drainage and public health systems serving:
    • Public toilets, hospitality suites, kitchens, bars, retail units, and offices
    • Cold and hot water services, boosted water systems, calorifiers, pumps, and valves
    • Drainage, soil, waste, and rainwater systems
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance in line with statutory requirements and stadium operational schedules
  • Provide on shift plumbing support before, during, and after events, responding rapidly to leaks, blockages, loss of water pressure, or sanitation issues
  • Monitor and maintain water hygiene systems, including temperature checks, flushing regimes, and Legionella control tasks
  • Isolate services safely and efficiently during emergencies or maintenance activities
  • Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety legislation, water regulations, and site procedures
  • Complete accurate maintenance records, statutory logs, and reports using CAFM systems
  • Liaise with event operations, catering teams, cleaning, and security to minimise disruption during events
  • Supervise subcontractors carrying out specialist plumbing or drainage works
  • Participate in shift handovers, ensuring clear communication of system status and outstanding issues
  • Support other engineering disciplines where required (basic mechanical or building services tasks)
  • Respond to emergency out of hours callouts as part of on call process/ rota
  • Ensure all plant rooms, service areas, and technical spaces are maintained to a high standard.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Plumbing or Building Services Engineer in a large commercial or public environment
  • Strong fault-finding skills on water, drainage, and sanitation systems
  • Experience working shift patterns, including evenings and weekends
  • Good understanding of plumbing systems in high-occupancy venues
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and Water Regulations

Desirable:

  • Experience working in stadiums, arenas, airports, hospitals, or similar public venues
  • Experience supporting live events or match-day operations
  • Experience with water hygiene and Legionella control
  • Familiarity with CAFM and BMS systems

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3/ City & Guilds in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent
  • Legionella Awareness / Water Hygiene training

Desirable:

  • Unvented Hot Water qualification
  • IPAF / PASMA
  • First Aid at Work
