The Role:

The Shift HVAC/ Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of HVAC, Mechanical and associated building service systems across the stadium and stadium campus properties.

This includes planned (PPM), Pre-match (PEAP) and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and optimisation of HVAC/ Mechanical systems, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical plant equipment to support stadium events, match days, and day-to-day operations.

Working as part of a shift team, the role ensures plant availability, compliance with statutory regulations, and a safe, efficient working environment at all times.

About You

  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem solving skills on HVAC/ Mechanical plant
  • Knowledge of HVAC controls, BMS operation and using CAFM systems
  • Previous experience working in stadiums, arenas, airports, or large public venues
  • Multi-skilled engineering background
  • Experience working on a shift pattern

What you will bring

  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and fault-find HVAC systems including
    • AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, pressurisation units, ventilations and other building service systems
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), Pre event checks (PEAPs) and reactive works in line with statutory requirements and stadium operational schedules and SLAs.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, carrying out fault-finding and resolution to minimise downtime.
  • Monitor and respond to alarms via the Building Management System (BMS)
  • Provide on-shift engineering support before, during, and after events, including rapid response to faults impacting comfort or safety
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including permit-to-work systems and contractor control
  • Maintain accurate records, logbooks, and reports using CAFM systems
  • Liaise with subcontractors and supervise specialist works when required
  • Participate in shift handovers and provide clear communication regarding system status and outstanding issues
  • Support other building services disciplines where required (mechanical, plumbing or electrical tasks)
  • Respond to emergency out of hours callouts as part of on call process/ rota
  • Ensure all plant rooms, service areas, and technical spaces are maintained to a high standard

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an HVAC, Mechanical or Building Services Engineer in a large commercial, public, or critical environment
  • Experience working on a shift pattern
  • Knowledge of HVAC controls and BMS operation

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in stadiums, arenas, airports, or large public venues
  • Experience supporting live events or match-day operations
  • Experience using CAFM and BMS systems

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3/ City & Guilds in Heating & Ventilation, Air Conditioning, or Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent).
  • Legionella Awareness / Water Hygiene training

Desirable:

  • F-Gas Category 1
  • Unvented Hot Water qualification
  • BS7671: 18th Edition
  • IPAF / PASMA
