Purpose 

Established in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. We support people across Manchester by empowering healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities. 

The purpose of the role is to oversee the delivery of the BTEC programme, managing recruitment, student progress, attendance and the matchday programme, while leading a team of coaches. The role includes ensuring effective use of CITC facilities, mentoring delivery staff, and fostering a supportive environment for both coaches and students to achieve high standards of performance and development.

Accountabilities

  1. Lead the delivery of the BTEC programme by managing timetables, monitoring student attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, and overseeing the matchday programme to ensure high standards and safeguarding compliance.
  2. Work closely with the Education Officer – BTEC, partner colleges, and educational stakeholders to align on goals, KPIs, and outcomes. Develop and maintain strong partnerships to support innovative curriculum delivery and programme success, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
  3. Lead the recruitment strategy, including organising events, supporting out-of-hours events, liaising with schools, and developing promotional materials to enhance visibility and participation.
  4. Collaborate with partner colleges to enhance and innovate the curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of students and stakeholders while maintaining high-quality delivery.
  5. Deliver and cover BTEC and other 11+ sessions when needed, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience for learners.
  6. Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.
  7. Ensure that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to across the team, escalating any breaches as appropriate.

 Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Proven ability to manage, and lead BTEC programmes or initiatives
  • In-depth understanding of coaching within BTEC programmes
  • Experience of planning and delivering high quality coaching sessions and syllabus which are challenging and inclusive to the needs of the group.
  • Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, colleges and educational stakeholders
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
  • Experience with Data Management and Reporting
  • Minimum Level 2 (UEFA C) Coaching Certificate in Football
  • Competent across Microsoft office
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Full driving license 

 

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field (Education, Sports, Coaching)
  • Coaching Level 2 qualification in one other relevant sport
  • Level 3 (UEFA B) Coaching Certificate in Football
  • Remote line management

  • Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects
  • Knowledge of higher/further education pathways
