Grassroots Program Coach (U8 – U12) - Burlington SC

BACKGROUND

The Burlington Soccer Club (BSC), a not-for-profit organization, was established in 1962. Today, the Club
has approximately 16,000 youth and adultsoccer players and is one of the largestsoccer clubsin
Ontario.The BSC is home to the Burlington Bayhawks and is proud of its competitive team successes
over the years, which includes 45 provincial championships and 13 national championships. The Club
holds a Canadian National License, an Ontario Provincial Development League (OPDL) License, and a
League 1 Ontario (L1O) Franchise.

 

SCOPE
As part of the BSC Technical Staff and reporting to the Technical Management Team, this position is
responsible for providing leadership and overseeing the development that is aligned with the Club’s
Vision and Mission. The position manages all aspects of the development program, including (but not
limited to) games, practices, off-field activities and program/season planning & curriculum.

The role requires a dedicated person who is passionate about the game and learning. Mentorship and
training will be provided by the Coach Development Manager. Furthermore, the successful candidate
will have their Ontario Soccer education paid for*.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical
• In alignment with OS Long-Term Player Development (LTPD), plan, develop, and execute ageappropriate training sessions and curriculum
• Travel with the team and attend all practices and Festivals/Games
• Support the development of styles of play for BSC competitive teams
• Acquire and maintain relevant coaching certifications to align with District and OS requirements

Administration
• Prepare player evaluations (two per season)
• Oversee TeamSnap
• Communicate with parents and the wider membership

Coach Education and Personal Development
• Attend Coach Education and Development Sessions
• Work with Coach Development Manager to create Personal Development Path
• Attend club events (as required)


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
• Age-appropriate certifications (FUNdamentals, Learn to Train, Soccer for Life, C-License)
• 1-2 years coaching experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong management and leadership skills with a focus on mentoring Assistant/Junior Coaches
• Professional, diplomatic, tactful, resourceful, flexible and dependable
• Multitasking abilities
• Experience working with volunteers
• A comprehensive understanding of Ontario Soccer and Burlington Soccer Club is an asset
