This is a sessional, deemed employee role, paid at a rate of £30 per session. Sessions will be offered on an as-needed basis and are subject to availability and the requirements of the Club.

Job role:

To embrace a holistic approach to the development of all young Tranmere Rovers players within the designated age group. To plan, deliver and review age-appropriate coaching sessions, matchdays and off-pitch work in alignment with our coaching and playing philosophy. To ensure each individual player under your provision has an up-to-date individual development plan which is being worked towards consistently.

Main duties:

  • Ensure that all sessions are planned, setting out the learning intentions which the session is intending to achieve and the coaching which will be given in order to achieve them.
  • Deliver the Coaching Programme for players in an age group.
  • Contribute to the multi-disciplinary reviews of all players in the age group to deliver a holistic development approach.
  • Provide individual, small group and full team coaching sessions to develop the skill level of all players.
  • Ensure each player has access to an Individual Development Plan tailored to his specific needs.
  • Ensure each player is made aware of his Individual Development Plan (and any changes thereto) as soon as reasonably practicable in advance of his being coached.
  • Work with relevant coaches and support staff to plan, deliver and evaluate coaching sessions and game plans.
  • To undertake personal CPD as appropriate to meet the demands of the role
  • To adhere to the Clubs Safeguarding responsibilities and procedures, reporting any concerns to the Club Designated Safeguarding Officer.
  • To support a culture where everyone is respected and treated fairly in line with the Clubs EDI Code of Practice.
  • To set high standards always, demonstrating professionalism following the Coach Code of Conduct, providing a good role model for young players.

Skills, qualifications and knowledge required:

  • Football (coached or played at a good level).
  • Previous experience of coaching younger players.
  • Running and designing practices that meet the needs of the individual Player.
  • An evolving knowledge of how players learn.
  • Experience of dealing with minors and an excellent understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures including the relevant clearances for individuals.
  • Previous experience within an Elite Sports Environment or Academy setting.
  • An understanding of the EFL Youth Development rules and regulations.
  • UEFA B Licence, or working towards
  • Appropriate First Aid Course
  • Appropriate child protection/Disclosure certification
  • UK Full Driving Licence
