Back of House Team member (Casual)

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our Back of House team. Playing a key role in the smooth operation of our catering services, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and organised kitchen environment, ensuring that equipment, workspaces, and food preparation areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Washing and Dishwashing
  • Thoroughly clean kitchen pots, pans and cooking utensils.
  • Load the dishwasher with crockery and cutlery; operate and unload the machine, then dry and store all items safely after each completed cycle.
  • Empty and clean the utensil dishwasher after every service.
Cleaning and Tidying
  • Follow all cleaning schedules approved by the Head Chef and comply with established COSHH procedures.
  • Complete and maintain cleaning records accurately.
  • Use approved cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
  • Remove and dispose of food waste and kitchen refuse, including cardboard, paper, bottles and recyclable material
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of food storage areas, refrigerators and corridors
  • Ensure kitchen floors remain clean, dry and safe at all times.
  • Keep waste and recycling bins clean and tidy.
Replenishment of Supplies

  • Replace kitchen towels and paper rolls as required.
  • Refill soap and handwashing dispensers throughout the kitchen area.
  • Refill sanitiser bottles during and after service.
Additional Duties
  • Undertake other reasonable duties, appropriate to the role, as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

 
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment is desirable.
  • Excellent punctuality and timekeeping.
  • Hard-working, honest, reliable and discreet.
  • Methodical and thorough when completing assigned tasks.
  • Committed to achieving and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Flexible in approach to duties and working practices.
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
Mandatory Uniform Requirements
 
  • Plain black polo shirt, shirt or long-sleeved top.
  • Black trousers or utility trousers; denim and jeans are not permitted.
  • Steel toe-cap safety shoes or boots; trainers are not permitted.
  • Plain black baseball cap with no visible logos.
