Job Description

Department: First Team Performance Services
Reports to: Head of Performance Services
Direct Reports: 1-2 x part time/placement nutritionists.
Key Contacts: Internal –1st Performance Services Team, Coaching Team, Academy Performance Services.
Location: Based primarily at the Club Training Ground, TW5 9PQ
Hours: Full Time Hours. Work schedule is aligned with the first team training and game schedule.
Job Purpose: As part of the club’s performance services team the performance nutritionist will provide a
club wide nutrition strategy, applied delivery and performance logistics to QPR players. The
role has a focus on optimising the performance and recovery to the Men’s First Team.

 

Key Duties

A. Performance Strategy
A1 Develop a club wide nutrition strategy which outlines principles and processes specific to optimising
nutrition across the club. This will be included in the organisational performance services model.
A2 Align specific nutritional principles, considerations and interventions with each squads periodised annual
plan and ensure this is executed to the best level possible.
A3 Develop a clear process for including nutritional strategies into individual players development plans and
ensure body composition goals and specific interventions are clearly linked to each player’s needs.

B. Applied Support
B1 Delivery group and individual nutrition education and consultations with the Men’s First Team and
Development Squad players.
B2 Provide daily support at training for the Men’s First Team and Development Team. This includes daily
organisation of key nutrition strategies, 1 on 1 meetings and performance monitoring (skinfolds/weights)
B3 Plan, develop and facilitate group nutrition sessions being delivered to the women’s team and academy
pathway. Agreed with the Head of Performance Services.

C. Performance Operations
C1 Contribute towards processes which support the delivery of key nutritional strategies alongside Head
Performance Chef (Menus, catering, specific interventions)
C2 Provide a monthly nutrition report including player body compositions, key feedback and any other
specific agreed information the HOPS requests.

Ensure supplements are ordered, organised and dispensed to players based on any key nutritional
interventions. Maintain highest standards associated with WADA and UKAD.

Attend all Men’s First Team games including liaising with hotels/caterers to ensure nutrition provision is
well delivered around all fixtures and matches.

D. MDT Involvement
D1 Attend all appropriate review/planning meetings (Team, MDT, Performance etc) in order to proactively
contribute to the overall management of the environment, players and general day to day scheduling.
D2 Contribute to individual players IDP plans specific to any nutritional interventions

E. Projects and Leadership
E1 Work closely with the Head of Performance Services to ensure a clear and evidence based nutritional
strategy is written into the clubs Performance Services Model.
E2 Oversee accessory nutrition provision to wider squads and part time members of the nutrition team to
align relevant service delivery across men’s, women’s and academy.
