Playmaker Academy is entering a new phase, with a clear focus on raising standards, improving structure and growing the programme.
We are looking for a Head of Academy to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our teams, while also playing a key role in driving the next stage of growth.
This is a hybrid role, combining on-pitch coaching with off-pitch organisation and leadership.
It is well suited to someone who wants real ownership within an ambitious and developing football academy.
The Role
The Head of Academy will oversee operations, standards and growth across Playmaker Academy.
You will work closely with the Director, but will take responsibility for ensuring the academy runs efficiently, professionally and consistently across all age groups.
This role requires someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable leading from the front.
Key Responsibilities
Operations and Organisation
- Oversee the day-to-day running of all academy teams Manage fixtures, league administration and scheduling - Coordinate academy fixtures, including organising and maintaining relationships with professional partner clubs - Ensure all parent communication is clear, timely and consistent - Maintain high standards of organisation across training and matchdays
Standards and Coaching
- Deliver and/or lead weekly coaching sessions - Set and maintain expectations for coaching and session delivery - Support coaches to ensure consistency across age groups - Ensure sessions and matchdays reflect the standards of the academy
Growth and Development
- Support the growth of player numbers across the academy - Work alongside the Early Years Programme Lead to build a clear player pathway - Contribute to the delivery and success of programmes such as development sessions and holiday programmes - Identify opportunities to create new teams where appropriate
Leadership
- Be a visible and reliable presence within the academy - Support coaches and deal with issues in a calm and professional manner - Take ownership of problems and ensure they are resolved quickly Time Commitment
This is a part-time, hybrid role requiring approximately 10-15 hours per week.
This will typically include:
On-pitch coaching and matchday presence Off-pitch time for planning, communication and organisation
Flexibility is important, but consistency and reliability are essential.

What We Are Looking For
Strong organisational and communication skills Reliable, consistent and proactive approach Experience working within grassroots or academy football Ability to manage multiple teams and responsibilities Confidence in dealing with parents, coaches and external partners A genuine interest in building and improving a football environment
Essential
Experience in football coaching, operations or programme delivery Ability to take ownership and work independently Strong attention to detail and organisation
Desirable
FA coaching qualification Experience working with or against professional club environments Experience managing staff or leading programmes
Pay
Monthly retainer with additional incentives linked to programme growth, player recruitment and academy development.
