Job Description

About the Performance and MedicineTeam:

Our mission is to support every athlete in reaching peak performance while reducing injury risk.

Through a multi-disciplinary approach that blends sports science, nutrition, medicine, and psychology, we deliver personalised programs tailored to each player’s needs.

We work closely with coaches to balance training loads, guide recovery, and provide insights into player readiness. Mental wellness is also a key focus, with sports psychologists helping athletes build resilience under pressure.

The Opportunity:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Performance Chef to join our team, providing the highest standard of nutritional food and beverages to support our players’ performance and recovery. You will have a strong understanding of nutritional breakdowns and be skilled in tailoring individual meals to meet specific dietary requirements, allergies, or performance needs. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the planning and creation of innovative menus aligned with our nutritional philosophy, as well as developing SOPs to ensure consistent delivery. Working alongside the Performance Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef, and Nutritionist, you will help deliver educational sessions on cooking, nutrition, and food hygiene at the club’s Academy site, supporting the development of young players and scholars. The role may involve accompanying teams on domestic and international away trips.

What We Ask For:

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Performance Chef with a strong commitment to maintaining food safety standards, with a Food Safety Level 3 certification (essential). In this key leadership role, you will coordinate the Junior Chefs and assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Performance Senior Sous Chef. You will be expected to maintain your professional qualifications and undertake relevant CPD to support your ongoing development.

An Enhanced DBS from Sunderland AFC is required.
