About the Role

Fleetwood Town Football Club is seeking an experienced and driven U21 Lead Coach to lead the delivery of coaching within the Professional Development Phase (PDP).

The successful candidate will take a primary role with the U21s while supporting the wider PDP programme, ensuring the development of players within a team structure and contributing to a clear pathway towards first-team football.

Academy Manager and Head of Coaching


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of players within the Professional Development Phase, ensuring individual progression is prioritised
  • Plan, deliver, and review age-specific coaching sessions aligned with the Academy curriculum
  • Monitor and evaluate player progress across U16, U18, and U21 levels, supporting clear development pathways
  • Produce detailed written reports, including Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and case studies
  • Play a leading role in the Coach Competency Framework, modelling best practice across the Academy
  • Support loan pathways for players, ensuring effective development during loan spells
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to support holistic player development
  • Coordinate daily PDP operations, including training schedules, fixtures, and logistics
  • Lead daily PDP meetings to support player development and programme delivery
  • Support and mentor coaching staff, promoting high standards and best practice
  • Contribute to recruitment processes with an energetic and purposeful approach
  • Attend all CPD as required by the Academy leadership team
  • Carry out additional duties as required by the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching

Key Requirements

  • UEFA A Licence
  • Advanced Youth Award
  • Experience working within a Category 1 or 2 Academy
  • Proven experience within a full-time football programme
  • Strong knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP)
  • Experience coaching within the Professional Development Phase
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Valid Emergency First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications
