Hours of Work: Training Two Evenings Per Week plus Home & Away Matchdays
What You’ll Be Doing
We are seeking an ambitious, passionate, and highly motivated Assistant Coach to join the Leeds United Women’s First Team coaching staff.
Working closely with the First Team Manager and General Manager, you will support all aspects of the football programme including training delivery, tactical preparation, player development, performance analysis, recruitment, and matchday operations.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within an ambitious women’s football environment and contribute to the continued development of players, staff, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching & Training
Assist the First Team Manager in planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality training sessions.
Lead individual, unit, and small-group coaching sessions when required.
Design and deliver technical, tactical, physical, and psychological coaching practices.
Support player development through individual feedback and learning opportunities.
Ensure training sessions reflect the club's playing philosophy and tactical principles.
Contribute to the ongoing development of coaching methodology and training practices.
Tactical & Match Preparation
Assist with tactical planning for league and cup fixtures.
Analyse opposition strengths, weaknesses, playing styles, and tactical systems.
Support match planning, team selection, and set-piece preparation.
Assist in developing tactical solutions and individual player responsibilities.
Provide tactical observations and coaching feedback throughout matches.
Matchday Responsibilities
Support the First Team Manager during all fixtures.
Assist with warm-ups, team talks, and pre-match preparation.
Support in-game tactical adjustments and substitutions.
Provide observations from the technical area.
Assist with post-match reviews and analysis.
Maintain the highest standards of conduct and professionalism.
Player Development
Support individual and collective player development.
Monitor and review player progress.
Identify technical and tactical development opportunities.
Support the transition of younger players into the First Team environment.
Promote accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.
Work collaboratively across the Women’s pathway to support player progression.
Analysis & Performance
Work closely with analysis staff to review training and match footage.
Contribute to opposition analysis and performance reviews.
Use video and performance data to support coaching decisions.
Present analysis findings to players and staff when required.
Maintain accurate player and team performance records.
Recruitment & Squad Planning
Support recruitment activities and player identification.
Attend scouting opportunities and fixtures when required.
Provide assessments of prospective players.
Contribute to recruitment discussions and squad planning processes.
Maintain confidentiality regarding recruitment and player matters.
Collaboration & Culture
Build strong relationships with coaching, medical, performance, analysis, and management staff.
Attend multidisciplinary meetings.
Support the wider Leeds United Women’s football philosophy.
Represent Leeds United professionally at all times.
Welfare & Safeguarding
Promote the welfare, wellbeing, and safety of all players.
Follow all safeguarding, EDI, and welfare procedures.
Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
Report safeguarding concerns through appropriate channels.
Help create a positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment.

What We’re Looking For
You’ll have:
UEFA C Licence (or recognised equivalent coaching qualification).
FA Safeguarding Qualification.
FA First Aid Qualification.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and planning abilities.
High standards of professionalism.
Strong technical and tactical knowledge of football.
Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Experience
Experience coaching within a competitive football environment.
Experience planning and delivering structured training sessions.
Experience supporting player development.
Experience working within a coaching team.
Experience delivering technical and tactical coaching interventions.
Experience working with players in a development-focused environment.
Desirable
UEFA B Licence or currently working towards UEFA B.
Experience coaching within Tier 4 or above of the women's game.
Experience working in a professional or semi-professional football environment.
Experience using video and performance analysis software.
Experience conducting opposition analysis.
Experience supporting scouting and player recruitment.
Experience working within a structured women’s and girls’ pathway.
