EssentialExperience:• Experience in social work, teaching or a related field working with children and/or adults at risk. Must have a background/experience in safeguarding preferably in a youth setting.
• Recent experience of working effectively with external agencies, local community and a governing body.
• Experienced in managing safeguarding concerns and keeping clear and comprehensive records of incidents.
• Ability to contribute to the implementation and regular updating of policies and procedures for the safeguarding of children and ‘adults at risk’ across all areas of the club.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:Knowledge of:• The current safeguarding challenges in football/sport.
• The UK safeguarding best practice.
Skills• Exceptional communication skills – both oral and written (presentation skills and delivery of ideas)
• Commitment to collaborative and consultative working.
• An understanding of the importance of, and the desire to engage with and inspire young people whatever their challenges.
• The ability to deal sensitively with complex problems that can arise in child protection issues and/or similar matters.
• A proven ability to manage change and to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, children, young people, parents and ‘adults at risk’ – ability to work well with others is vital.
• Experience of providing training and development for staff.
• Excellent organisational skills, ability to effectively manage competing priorities and adhere to a range of tight deadlines.
• High degree of professionalism and integrity, who will uphold the values of the Foundation.
Qualifications
- Relevant safeguarding qualification - appropriate experience will be accepted as an alternative.
- Evidence of on-going CPD.
DesirableExperience:
- A track record in overseeing safeguarding arrangements for ‘adults at risk.’
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:Knowledge of:• The impact of EDI on Safeguarding practices.
• ‘Prevent’ including extremist and terrorist groups.
• Safeguarding, safer recruitment and equality and diversity practice.
Skills• Working in a similar role, ideally in a governing or membership body within sport or other suitable industry.
• Demonstrable experience of strategies to raise standards; an aptitude and enthusiasm for effective analysis of data and its use in setting targets for improvement.
Qualifications• Degree or equivalent level qualification or experience.
