Head Coach BCU Women’s Football 1st Team
REPORTS TO: BCU Sports Development Officer
JOB PURPOSE:
Birmingham City University are recruiting a Head Coach for our Women’s Football programme. The successful candidate will lead the programme (approx. 6 hrs p/w Split across training, match days and admin tasks) across the University season. The Head coach will be expected to attend approx. 14 matches (Wednesday afternoons) across 26-week season plus one training per week (Monday evenings). Additional aspects of the role are explained in detail later in this job description.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
The successful individual would be employed as a casual staff member at Birmingham City University between September 2026 through to March 2027. The candidate would be subject to an end of season review with excellent prospects for continuation thereafter for September 2027. *Please note this is a sessional rate coaches will not be able to claim if no session or match takes place.
MAIN DUTIES:
The post-holder will be expected to:
1. Coach/Manage the BCU Women’s Football 1 st team squad and accompany them to their matches under the direction of and reporting to the Sports Development Officer (BCU)
2. To plan, prepare and deliver the BCU Women’s Football 1 st team (including a complete training and games programme).
3. Help with the growth of the BCU Women’s Football programme including social football 4. Develop and progress BCU Women’s Football club and work collaboratively with all other BCU football coaches.
5. Supervise all players during training sessions & games.
6. Assist with recruitment of new players on an annual basis (numbers to be agreed annually by BCU Sport)
7. Prepare equipment for all sessions and matches.
8. Maintain training and match records that include registers and session plans.
9. To work with current partners for the development of the football programme at BCU.
10. Plan and carry out pre-season and post-season activities.
11. Attend relevant team and departmental meetings, complete all required administrative tasks (E.g. weekly team sheets, BCU communication to the team).
General
1. Co-operate in any staff development activities required to effectively carry out the duties of the post and to participate in BCU Sport reviews and development schemes in conjunction with BCU.
2. Compliance with all BCU policies and procedures.
3. Comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
4. To promote a positive image of BCU at all times.
5. Any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, which may be required from time to time including evening and weekend work.
