Saints Foundation is the charity of Southampton Football Club. We support people in need throughout Southampton, providing life-changing opportunities to help our communities thrive.
What is the role?
We are looking for a Youth Engagement Officer to join our Premier League Kicks team. This is an exciting opportunity to support young people aged 8 to 18 across Southampton through positive activities, mentoring and community engagement. Working in areas of high need, you will help build aspiration, improve wellbeing and create positive opportunities for young people who may be at risk of anti-social behaviour or youth violence.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about youth development and wants to make a meaningful difference in their local community.
What will you be doing?
As a Youth Engagement Officer, you will lead and deliver engaging football sessions, workshops, mentoring projects and community based activities across Southampton. You will build positive relationships with young people, acting as a role model and helping them develop confidence, resilience and stronger connections within their communities.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Youth Engagement team to organise tournaments, events and development opportunities, while also supporting the monitoring and evaluation of programmes to demonstrate impact and meet funding objectives. The role involves working collaboratively with schools, community organisations and local partners to ensure activities meet the needs of participants and the wider community.
You will play an important role in maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed and that young people receive the support they need to thrive.
Is this you?
We are looking for someone with experience of working with young people in community settings and a genuine passion for helping them achieve their potential. You will be confident delivering engaging sessions, building relationships and adapting your approach to meet the needs of different individuals and groups.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. A flexible approach is essential, as the role will include evening and weekend working within the community.
You'll ideally hold, or be working towards, a UEFA C Licence (formerly FA Level 2), a Level 2 Youth Work qualification, or an equivalent qualification in sport, youth work or a related field.
