About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, energetic and learner-centred Sports Development and Enrichment Tutor to join our Post-16 Study Programmes team. You will be working closely with a local Professional Football Club on this exciting programme as part of a Partnership model for our young people.

We are seeking an inspirational tutor who is passionate about supporting young people aged 16-19 to develop their skills in sports, fitness and active leisure, giving them the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable them to progress into further education, apprenticeships or sustainable employment.

As a tutor you are at the heart of our delivery, therefore you must possess the ability to motivate students to develop their skills and confidence and reach their full potential. You must have the passion and empathy for working with young people with different abilities, including young people with additional needs. You will use innovative methods to deliver creative, fun and engaging sessions on sports, fitness and active leisure and enrichment sessions linked to health, wellbeing and personal development, with a focus on supporting the learners to achieve their qualifications

Key Responsibilities

You will develop and deliver engaging Level 1 and Level 2 Sport, Fitness and Active Leisure and Enrichment programmes that will motivate learners and support progression into employment, apprenticeships, further education or higher-level training opportunities.

  • Developing schemes of work and learning resources
  • Planning and delivering engaging sessions and practical sports activities
  • Assessing and marking learner work
  • Monitoring learner attendance, progress and achievement
  • Supporting learner wellbeing and personal development
  • Organising enrichment and active engagement activities
  • Preparing learners for progression into education, employment or training
  • Maintaining accurate learner records in line with DfE requirements
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Study Programmes team

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

Essential skills and experience:

  • A Level 3 (or above) Teaching or Education & Training qualification
  • A relevant qualification in Sport, Fitness, Coaching or Active Leisure
  • Experience delivering vocational sport qualifications
  • Experience in assessing accredited qualifications
  • Experience working with young people aged 16–19
  • Strong classroom and practical session management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good ICT skills including Microsoft Office
  • A creative, proactive and learner-centred approach
  • The ability to inspire and educate young people from diverse backgrounds
  • The ability to work towards learner achievement and performance targets

Desirable:

  • Assessor qualification
  • Sports coaching or fitness instructor qualifications
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional barriers to learning
  • Knowledge of Study Programmes and DfE funding requirements
  • Experience supporting Ofsted inspections or quality improvement
