We are looking for a passionate, experienced and engaging Neurodiversity Support Mentor (Children & Families) to join our amazing team working within our Education and Positive Pathways programme area.

Job Purpose

To provide flexible, outcome-focused support to families with children who may be neurodivergent. The role will take a whole-family approach, empowering parents and carers with practical strategies while supporting the emotional and behavioural needs of children.

The postholder will deliver early intervention support to help families better understand and respond to neurodivergent needs within the home and community with the aim of reducing escalation of need and strengthening family resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support families to understand neurodiversity and how it may present in their child.
  • Provide parents and carers with practical, evidence-informed strategies that can be implemented consistently at home.
  • Deliver 1-1 sessions to both young people and parents to support children’s emotional regulation and behavioural needs using strengths-based and non-stigmatising approaches.
  • Deliver whole family flexible support through home visits, community-based sessions or group work where appropriate.

Work collaboratively with existing SEND and emotional wellbeing services to ensure support

  • complements, rather than duplicates, current provision in Bolton.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring outcomes for families receiving support.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 mentoring to children, supporting emotional regulation, confidence, and positive behaviours.
  • Provide practical guidance and strategies to parents/carers to support their child at home and in the community.
  • Support families to understand neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD, and related needs.
  • Use strengths-based, non-stigmatising approaches in all interactions.
  • Work in collaboration with schools, SEND services, and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and reporting outcomes.
  • Deliver support flexibly through home visits, community sessions, or group work as required.
  • To adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • To ensure all participant data is logged into our monitoring and evaluation system ‘Salesforce’ as well as other monitoring systems utilised by external partners in relation to any associated projects/programmes.
  • To be responsible for working within BWitC’s Values and Behaviours, ensuring that all work is carried out in line with these Values and Behaviours.
  • To be an ambassador of BWitC by supporting us in creating a connected Bolton without disadvantage, always offering excellent customer service and upholding the professional image of BWFC and BWitC.
  • To represent BWitC at relevant activities/events and to develop networks with other agencies, schools and community groups in Bolton.
  • To perform other duties as required, which are considered relevant to the objectives of BWITC.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £25,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
