The Role: 

The Building Services and Compliance Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the operational integrity, statutory compliance, and risk management of all building systems across Old Trafford and associated facilities. You will lead on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance for Facilities Operations and third-party contractors, supporting the Head of Stadium Facilities in driving continuous improvement, operational resilience, and legal compliance.
This role combines technical oversight with strategic risk management, ensuring that all systems and services meet the highest standards expected at Manchester United. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance across Facilities Operations and third-party contractors
  • Acting as the principal contact for insurers, auditors, and inspection authorities
  • Maintaining and developing risk registers, identifying and mitigating emerging risks
  • Supporting risk reporting, internal controls, audits, insurance claims, and business continuity planning
  • Assisting with disaster recovery planning and emergency response readiness
  • Overseeing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and BMS
  • Ensuring Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules are delivered and recorded
  • Managing repairs, servicing, and system optimisation across facilities
  • Leading specialist compliance areas including F-Gas, Gas Safe, fire dampers, and TR19 kitchen extract standards
  • Managing water safety and Legionella control in line with L8 ACoP and HSG274 guidance
  • Maintaining accurate compliance records and resolving water hygiene issues
  • Overseeing facilities systems such as door access (TDS), drainage (ACO), pressure systems, and hazardous waste processes
  • Supervising contractors, ensuring certifications and compliance with club standards
  • Managing project costs, purchase orders, and materials for maintenance and improvement works

The Person: 
  
We are looking for someone who has: 

  • Extensive experience in Health and Safety compliance within a complex operational setting
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, BMS, fire safety)
  • IOSH qualification (or equivalent) and relevant Health & Safety certifications
  • Proven experience conducting inspections, reporting findings, and driving compliance initiatives
  • Strong understanding of F-Gas regulations, TR19 standards, L8 ACoP, and building safety legislation
  • Experience working with contractors and enforcing compliance standards
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to identify and mitigate risks proactively

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Experience in a stadium or high-occupancy venue environment
  • Familiarity with CAFM systems and compliance tracking software
  • Technical qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
