teams with 380,000 registered players, 70,000 coaches and managers, and 8,100 match officials, as
well as countless volunteers, parents and supporters encompassing a direct, multi-cultural community
of over 1,000,000 Ontarians.

Ontario Soccer develops and delivers exceptional and sustainable programs and services throughout
Ontario with the mission of providing leadership and support for the advancement of soccer in
collaboration and cooperation with our member District Associations and Clubs, partners and other
stakeholders. Ontario Soccer owns and operates the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre in Vaughan,
Ontario, as well operating the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL); the province’s premier
standards-based youth development program, as well as “Team Ontario”, Ontario Soccer’s Provincial
Xcel program. Ontario Soccer proudly supports Canada Soccer’s National Teams, the Canadian
Premier League, Toronto FC and the Northern Super League.

The overall objective of Ontario Soccer, as a hub for Coach, Match Official and Player Development, is
to be innovators and leaders in sport and to assist with the equitable development of soccer as a
healthy lifestyle choice, provide a talented pathway for participants to excel and encourage inclusive
community involvement at all levels.


Position Summary:

Ontario Soccer is inviting applications for the position of Mascot Performer- Contractor. With 2026
shaping up to be an especially exciting year for soccer in Canada and Ontario this role offers a
unique opportunity to contribute during a landmark moment for the sport. Reporting to the Manager
of Marketing, Partnerships, and Events, this role is for those with a particular interest in events, and
partner activations. Above all else, we are looking for a team player who will come to the table with a
wide skill set, go-getter attitude, infectious enthusiasm, and a desire to spread cheer and joy to the

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

With the Manager of Marketing, Partnerships, and Events as their primary contact, the Ontario Soccer
Mascot Performer Contractor will support the team in in the following areas:

Event Management and Program Administration

• Perform as the official mascot (Striker) at events, programs, and community appearances
while maintaining the character’s personality, energy, and brand identity.
• Engage and interact with guests of all ages, creating memorable, family-friendly
entertainment through gestures, skits, improvisation, and photo opportunities.
• Animate the character suit with expressive body language, high-energy movements, and
consistent character mannerisms.
• Perform improvisational routines, including dances, short performances, and
crowd-energizing activities.
• Maintain a high level of physical stamina, performing in costume, sometimes in warm or
outdoor environments.
• Collaborate with event staff, and marketing teams to support promotions, giveaways,
presentations, and sponsor-related activities.
• Ensure safety for yourself and guests by maintaining situational awareness and adhering to
all performance and venue guidelines. Follow the lead of your handler.
• Assist with costume care, including basic cleaning, storage, and reporting repairs or
maintenance needs.
• Represent the organization professionally during all performances, community
engagements, and public appearances.
• Adhere to the Mascot handbook and Code of Conduct regarding professional conduct when
in the costume.
• Willing and able to work Weekends.

Expectations

This is the first year that we will be hiring a Mascot Performer as Striker is a new addition to the
Ontario Soccer Family! Leave your mark on this exciting time in the country as Striker will make
various appearances at Ontario Soccer hosted events, club events and community activations
across the province!

The Mascot Performer Contractor will:
• Be available to work starting May 1, 2026, ending September 30, 2026 (with potential for work
through October)
• Work is sporadic and shifts will come up as needed based on events and requests (Calendar of
events will be provided)
• Have a driver’s license and provide their own transportation
• Be available to work weekends throughout the summer at locations within the GTA and outside
the GTA
• Be available during the week (optional, and determined during the selection process)
• May also be asked to work as the mascot handler (if multiple performers are hired)
• Physical Considerations:
o Able to carry up to 50 pounds of material
o Comfortable standing for prolonged periods of time
o Willing to wear the costume throughout the event (within reason considering health and
safety)


Salary Range

Ontario Soccer will reimburse the contractor $35 per hour for on-site services rendered during the term
of this Agreement plus applicable expenses upon submission of an expense claim or invoice. 3 hour
minimum pay for each shift. Total compensation for services rendered shall not exceed $14,000 for
agreed upon term.
