The Club Driver is responsible for providing a safe, reliable and professional driving service across the Club and for the effective day-to-day management of the Club vehicle fleet. Reporting to the Head of Security, the role has ownership of driver eligibility and compliance (excluding Academy), management of part-time drivers (excluding Academy), and ensuring all Club vehicles are maintained, presented and operated to the required legal, insurance and Club standards. The Club Driver delivers a consistent, discreet service to First Team, Medical, Administration and Security departments, while coordinating vehicle availability with the Academy’s transport function where required.
 

Job Requirements

The Club Driver & Fleet Compliance Manager must:

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Proven professional driving experience.
• Experience of fleet management or transport coordination.
• Strong understanding of insurance and driver eligibility requirements.
• High levels of discretion and trustworthiness.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ideally, the Club Driver & Fleet Compliance Manager will:

• Experience working within elite sport or a high-security or high-profile environment.
• Experience managing part-time or casual staff.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and security principles.
 

Job Responsibilities

The following is a non-exhaustive list of the responsibilities of the role:

Driving & Transport Services
• Provide professional driving services within contracted hours for:
o First Team players and staff
o Medical and performance teams
o Club administration
o Security operations
• Deliver a consistent, punctual and discreet service, adapting to operational priorities and short-notice
requirements where reasonably practicable.

Fleet Management
• Take day-to-day responsibility for the Club vehicle fleet, including cars, vans and any specialist
vehicles.
• Ensure all Club vehicles are:
o Clean and presented to a professional standard
o Fuelled and/or charged as required
o Roadworthy and maintained in line with manufacturer and Club standards
• Coordinate servicing, MOTs, repairs and inspections.
• Maintain accurate records for vehicle usage, servicing and maintenance.

Club Driver Compliance & Eligibility
• Hold primary responsibility for compliance relating to drivers, including:
o Driving licence verification
o Insurance eligibility
o Internal approval and record-keeping
• Ensure only approved and eligible drivers operate Club vehicles.
• Liaise with HR, insurers and internal stakeholders to maintain compliance.
• Maintain auditable records to support internal and external reviews.

Management of Part-Time / Casual Drivers
• Manage, schedule and oversee part-time or casual drivers engaged to support Club driving
requirements.
• Ensure all drivers are appropriately approved, briefed and compliant.
• Monitor service standards and address performance or conduct issues where required.
Academy Liaison
• Act as the Club point of contact for coordination of vehicle availability and scheduling with the Academy.
• Work collaboratively with the Academy Transport & Fleet Compliance Lead to enable shared vehicle
use where appropriate.
• Ensure Club vehicles are released for Academy use only where confirmation of driver eligibility has
been provided by the Academy.
• Maintain clear records to ensure transparency of responsibility and avoid duplication of compliance
functions.

Security, Standards & Confidentiality
• Operate in line with security protocols and instructions issued by the Head of Security.
• Maintain the highest standards of discretion, confidentiality and situational awareness.
• Report any security-related incidents, concerns or breaches promptly through agreed channels.
• Represent the Club professionally at all times when interacting with players, staff, officials and external
stakeholders.

Working Hours
  • 40 Contracted hours per week with flexibility required to meet operational and security demands.
  • Some early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required.
