Job Title: Training Centre Steward – Volunteer

The Training Centre Steward will support the safe, organised and welcoming operation of the Club’s training centre during Academy fixtures, training activities and other football events. The role will provide practical support to players, parents/guardians, coaching staff, visiting teams and other visitors, helping to ensure that the training centre operates smoothly and that designated areas and matchday arrangements are maintained.

 

The Training Centre Steward will work closely with Academy and Football Operations staff to support the movement and organisation of people around the facility. The role includes assisting with parking arrangements, directing visitors to the appropriate areas, supporting access to changing rooms and helping to maintain clear separation between player, staff and spectator areas

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Training Centre Operations

  • Support the safe, organised and welcoming operation of the training centre during Academy fixtures, training activities and other football events.
  • Welcome players, parents/guardians, staff, visiting teams, officials and other visitors to the training centre.
  • Direct players, parents/guardians and visitors to the appropriate areas of the training centre.
  • Help maintain clear separation between designated player, staff and spectator areas.
  • Monitor access to designated or restricted areas and politely remind visitors of relevant site requirements where necessary.
  • Direct players, parents/guardians and visitors to appropriate parking areas and assist with the orderly movement of vehicles around the site.
  • Show players, coaching staff, visiting teams and officials to changing rooms and other relevant facilities.
  • Assist visiting teams and staff with general queries regarding the layout and facilities of the training centre.
  • Help ensure entrances, walkways, changing-room areas and other key areas remain clear and appropriately used.
  • Support the smooth movement of people around the facility before, during and after matches.
  • Report any concerns, incidents, hazards or operational issues to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Work cooperatively with Academy staff, coaches, officials and other volunteers to support the successful running of matchdays and football activities.
  • Follow all relevant Club, training centre, safeguarding, health and safety and matchday procedures.

  • Maintain a professional, friendly and approachable manner when dealing with players, parents/guardians, staff and visitors.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries when working around Academy players and follow all relevant safeguarding procedures.
  • Treat all players, staff, parents/guardians, visiting teams and visitors with respect and courtesy.
  • Raise any safeguarding, welfare, health and safety or conduct concerns promptly with the appropriate member of staff.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Friendly, approachable and helpful manner.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident providing clear directions and guidance to players, parents/guardians and visitors.
  • Reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team.
  • Able to remain calm and professional in a busy matchday environment.
  • Good awareness of the surrounding environment and ability to identify and report potential issues.
  • Willingness to follow Club procedures, safeguarding requirements and reasonable instructions from Academy/Football Operations staff.
  • Genuine interest in football and supporting the smooth operation of an Academy environment.

 

Desirable

  • Previous experience volunteering or working within a football club, sports organisation, Academy or similar environment.
  • Previous experience in stewarding, customer service, event operations or visitor-facing role.
  • Knowledge of the training centre, Club facilities or local football environment.
  • Relevant safeguarding, first aid, health and safety or stewarding training.
