Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Football Coach to support our kid's football programme. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about sports coaching and teaching to contribute to the development of young athletes. The successful candidate will assist in training sessions, support team organisation, and help foster a positive sporting environment. Prior experience in sports coaching or teaching is desirable, but a strong interest in football and youth development is essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and delivering training sessions tailored to various age groups and skill levels
- Support the organisation of team practices, matches, and tournaments
- Help motivate players, promote teamwork, and encourage good sportsmanship among athletes
- Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback during training and games
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Support with equipment management, including setting up gear for training sessions and matches
- Foster a positive environment that promotes learning, discipline, and enjoyment of the sport
Qualifications
- Experience in sports coaching or teaching is highly desirable
- Passionate about football and youth development
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate young athletes
- Organised with the ability to plan effective training sessions
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures related to sports activities
- Previous experience working with children or teenagers is advantageous

We find if you give players all the answers, they get lazy. They don’t think for themselves. They can’t problem solve. We want to present situations in which the environment teaches them and they can learn continuously with no fear of making mistakes.
We Make Footballers believe in a combination of learning through discovery, guided discovery and occasionally an autocratic (controlling) coaching style.Guided discovery will often speed up the process in which the player finds the ‘right answer’. With trial and error, we are hoping the child gets the answer, however it may not come. The guidance points them in the right direction (the right direction is always open to interpretation).
