Pickering Football Club is home to 3,500 players including 300 high-performance and 550
competitive players. We made a welcome return to the Ontario Premier League in 2024 with
strong teams in both the men's and women's Championship division. Founded in 1984, The
Pickering Football Club was one of the first crop of clubs recognized at the CSA National Youth
Club License level and one of only 2 in the Durham Region. PFC coaching staff provide quality
player focused development programming for all players in our Recreational, GrassrootsCompetitive and High-Performance streams.

Pickering Football Club is a progressive organization committed to developing players through a
proven game-model approach and age-appropriate curriculum. Through excellence on and off
the field, Pickering FC has helped players advance to Canadian universities, NCAA programs,
and Provincial and National Team pathways.

Overview:

The Manager, High Performance (MHP) will provide strategic leadership in the planning,
implementation, and evaluation of high-performance programs and services designed to
accelerate the development of athletes and coaches while aligning with the Ontario
Soccer/Canada Soccer along the Pickering FC pathway. Working collaboratively with club
leadership, technical staff, and alliance partners, the MHP will ensure the delivery of participantcentred and evidence-informed programming that supports excellence, progression, and long-term
success. This role is instrumental in driving the vision and standards of the Pickering FC High
Performance Pathway while fostering an environment that prepares participants for the next levels
of the game.

Ontario Premier League

• Manage all matters with respect to the OPL programming including:
o All three levels of play
o Coach management (recruitment, hiring, scheduling and appraisal)
o Assist coaches in the monitoring and scouting of all players capable of
playing in the OPL system.
o Player tryouts and rostering compliance
o League compliance in collaboration with Game Day Manager and HighPerformance Administrator.
o Act as a player ambassador by uniting the player, the club and the
community.

Ontario Player Development League

• Manage all matters with respect to the OPDL program including:
o League compliance in all areas
o Strength and conditioning 3rd party provider
o Athletic therapist schedules for training and games
o Technology requirements through VEO/HUDL etc.
o Provide day-to-day assistance with all administrative duties
o Successful league annual performance review
o Provide guidance on Showcase and University events
• Ensure club philosophy is being instilled day to day by the teams and their assigned
coaches.
• Coach management (recruitment, hiring, scheduling and appraisal)
• Ensure proper communication channels are being adhered to with the club and
team environment.

Coach Development

• Support coaching staff to ensure all training sessions, games and events have
qualified licensed staff to manage the team on and off the field.
• Co-ordinate a contingency plan for each team as to who will manage the team in
the absence of a qualified staff coach.
• In the case of no person(s) being available the MHP will need to fill the vacant
position.
• Ensure best practices for recruitment, training, evaluation and retention of coaches,
program staff/ volunteers to deliver programs.
• In the case of disciplinary action for any coach within the High-Performance
Program, the M-HP will ensure all steps are taken to have representation from the
Club at any hearing(s).

Administrative Duties

Oversee and support the implementation and ongoing development of the PFC HighPerformance Pathway (HPP):

a) Review and keep current PFC HPP information, OPDL standards, OPL standards
and application documentation.
b) Liaise with the HP Administrator on all tasks related to field bookings, player
registration, travel permits, documentation etc.
c) Support PFC HPP Coaches and the PFC Director of Football Operations in program
development, including the development of technical curricula and/or seasonal
development plans, as requested.
d) Support PFC HPP Coaches in their ongoing delivery of sessions, including
observation at competitions, conducting sample sessions, support athlete and
apprentice coach evaluations, audit and assess training environments against
OPDL/OPL standards, etc.

Oversee PFC HPP Coaches, including:
a) Assist in conducting preliminary assessments of Apprentice Coaches entering the
High-Performance Stream.
b) Arrange and/or provide mentorship opportunities to coaches working on the
completion of the CONCACAF B License, C License and Youth License.

Event Planning Duties

Grow the PFC High Performance Showcase Series and other high performance competitive
platforms including:
a) A U13 OPDL Tournament in line with 9v9 standards
b) Establish a male and female showcase event to align with the PFC Club Calendar.

Communication Duties

Tracking and Reporting of Outputs and Outcomes aligned to the PFC Strategic Plan and in
pursuit of strategic outcomes and strategies, the M-HP is responsible for tracking and
reporting on all outputs and outcomes within the areas of responsibility.
a) Ensure all communications on HPP programming; schedules, staff qualifications,
curriculums, syllabus, feedback, evaluations and follow ups are completed with the
Ontario Soccer staff.
b) Be available to meet with Ontario Soccer staff on official visits and follow up on
unofficial visits.

Financial Duties

In conjunction with DFO, the M-HP is responsible for the development and reconciliation of budgets
within the areas of responsibility.

Qualifications:

• CONCACAF B License or higher.
• 3-5 year experience in a grassroots club environment
• Detail and compliance oriented.
• Learning Facilitator designation an asset.
• Experience in people management, risk management and technical analysis is an asset.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
