Role Overview

Northumberland Heath Football Club is seeking a passionate and committed Youth Development Pathway Coach to play an important role in the development of young players within the club.

This position focuses on supporting and developing players within our youth pathway, helping them progress both as footballers and individuals while preparing them for potential opportunities within senior football.

The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment, deliver engaging coaching sessions, and help maintain the high standards and culture that underpin the club's long-term vision.

Key Responsibilities

1. Player Development

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate coaching sessions that support player development
  • Help players improve their technical, tactical, physical, and psychological understanding of the game
  • Monitor player progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Encourage players to develop confidence, discipline, and a strong work ethic

2. Youth Pathway Support

  • Support the club's player pathway and progression model
  • Identify players with the potential to progress into older age groups and senior football
  • Work closely with other coaches to ensure continuity throughout the development pathway
  • Assist with player assessments and development reviews

3. Coaching & Matchdays

  • Deliver enjoyable, challenging, and structured training sessions
  • Support matchday preparation and player development during fixtures
  • Create a positive and supportive environment that prioritises learning and growth
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, effort, and commitment

4. Club Culture & Values

  • Act as a positive role model for young players
  • Promote respect, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship
  • Uphold the values and standards of Northumberland Heath Football Club
  • Support player wellbeing and safeguarding requirements at all times

5. Wider Club Contribution

  • Work collaboratively with fellow coaches, team managers, and club officials
  • Attend coach meetings and development events where appropriate
  • Support club initiatives, recruitment events, and player identification opportunities
  • Help strengthen links between youth teams and the senior section of the club

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • Passion for youth football and player development
  • Good understanding of football coaching principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young players, parents, and staff
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and committed to player development

Desirable:

  • Previous experience coaching youth football
  • FA Introduction to Coaching Football, FA Level 1, or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of long-term player development principles
  • Experience working within a structured football pathway

Role Details

Position Type: Part-Time / Voluntary or Paid (depending on experience)
Location: Christopher Russell Stadium
Reporting To: Head of Youth Development / Club Chairman
Remuneration: Subject to experience and role scope
