Part-Time Assistant Coach, Women’s Soccer

Job Description

Suffolk University's Department of Athletics is seeking a part-time women's soccer coach who can help recruit and coach a skilled, motivated, hardworking team of student-athletes. As a member of the Conference of New England (CNE), the Suffolk Rams aim to provide student-athletes with a positive experience in their pursuit of excellence through high academic standards, quality competition and a meaningful student life. Roles/Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the head coach on all aspects of the management and direction of the program in conjunction with the overall strategic plan for Athletics; assumes the duties of the head coach in their absence.
  • Assists in planning and coaching practice sessions and games as directed by the head coach; teaches advanced-level skills and game strategies.
  • Assist the head coach in scouting opponents to help prepare, plan, conduct, and evaluate practice sessions as required.
  • Assist the head coach, as needed, in the recruitment of student athletes including but not limited to contacting high/prep school coaches to identify prospective recruits, planning recruiting trips with the head coach, attending off-campus games to evaluate athletes, and preparing and distributing recruiting information.

Education and Skills Needed

  • At least 1-3 years of previous coaching experience.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Compliance with all NCAA, CNE, and Suffolk University.
  • Contributes to a culture of inclusion and belongingness for all staff members, student-athletes, prospective student-athletes and stakeholders of the department.

Other Job Requirements

  • Regular physical exertion, walking, and exposure to weather are required; Light lifting required (50 pounds and under).
  • Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends, and to travel in person.
  • Recruiting events and tournaments as identified and directed by the Head Coach.
  • Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College’s insurer’s criteria) or a satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous college playing and coaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with software/online programs related to game film (i.e.Hudl, etc.).
  • Experience recruiting at the NCAA Dlll level.
