About the Role
Pompey in the Community (PiTC) is seeking an ambitious and dynamic Premier League Kicks and Community Coordinator to lead the strategic growth, coordination and delivery of our community programmes and youth engagement initiatives..
This strategic leadership role combines operational oversight of community programmes with responsibility for the Premier League Kicks programme and wider youth engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will lead programme delivery, staff management, financial sustainability, partnership development and income generation while ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, inclusion and community impact.
The role requires a dynamic leader who can combine frontline understanding of youth and community engagement with strong strategic planning, budget management and business development capabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership team to drive organisational growth, increase participation, attract external funding and strengthen Pompey in the Community’s position as a leading community organisation in Portsmouth.

Role Overview
• Lead and coordinate Premier League Kicks and our Community Projects department
• Drive financial sustainability through effective budget management, cost efficiency and revenue generation.
• Identify and secure new funding opportunities including grants, sponsorships, partnerships and social value investment.
• Develop and implement departmental business plans aligned with PiTC strategic objectives.
• Monitor and report on programme impact, participation figures, KPIs and financial performance.
• Support funding applications and partnership proposals.
• Ensure programmes achieve contractual obligations and funding outcomes.
Key Responsibilities – Programme Coordination & Delivery
• Coordinate, deliver, monitor and evaluate Premier League Kicks and wider community engagement programmes.
• Lead the operational development of diversionary activities, youth engagement programmes and inclusive community projects.
• Deliver sports participation sessions, educational workshops and mentoring opportunities.
• Develop innovative programmes responding to local community needs.
• Expand participation across inclusion, disability sport, youth development and targeted intervention projects.
• Oversee programme monitoring, data collection, evaluation and reporting systems.
• Ensure all sessions are appropriately risk assessed, staffed and compliant.
• Support young people to transition into wider opportunities across PiTC provision.
Leadership & Staff Management
• Lead, manage and inspire a team of coordinators, coaches, sessional staff and volunteers.
• Conduct staff supervision, performance reviews and professional development planning.
• Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
• Ensure all staff understand and follow organisational policies and safeguarding procedures.
• Provide operational guidance, mentoring and support to staff across all programmes.
• Coordinate staffing structures and delivery schedules across multiple sites.
Partnerships & Representation
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, local authorities, community organisations and strategic stakeholders.
• Represent Pompey in the Community at local, regional and national events and networks.
• Promote PiTC through media opportunities, public events and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop relationships with partners to increase investment, collaboration and programme reach.
• Engage local communities to improve programme delivery and participation.
Safeguarding & Compliance
• Safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults at all times.
• Lead on safeguarding standards across community projects and youth engagement delivery.
• Work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead to manage concerns and incidents.
• Support the organisation through OFSTED registration and compliance processes.
• Ensure all delivery meets safeguarding, health and safety and quality assurance standards.
• Maintain accurate programme records, evaluations and compliance documentation.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Proven experience managing and scaling community-based programmes.
• Experience coordinating youth engagement, sport or diversionary programmes.
• Demonstrable success in income generation, funding applications and budget management.
• Strong leadership and people management experience.
• Experience engaging hard-to-reach and underrepresented communities.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Experience monitoring and evaluating programme impact.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Desirable Experience
• Experience working within professional football club community organisations.
• Experience delivering educational workshops or mentoring programmes.
• Knowledge of disability sport and inclusive practice.
• Experience working with local authorities and external funders.
• Experience in social impact measurement and reporting.
Qualifications
Essential:
• Level 2 Sports Coaching qualification or equivalent.
• Level 2 Youth Work qualification or equivalent.
• Enhanced DBS, Emergency First Aid and Safeguarding certifications (or willingness to obtain).
• Full UK driving license and ability to travel independently.
Desirable:
• Community development, business management or leadership qualifications.
• Inclusive sport or disability sport qualifications.
