Help Shape the Future of Girls’ Football in South London

Young Queens Football Club is a fast-growing girls-only football club based in South London, providing football opportunities for girls aged 8–15 of all abilities.

Our mission is simple:
To make football a thriving and accessible part of youth culture for girls in South London by creating the most positive, ambitious and supportive environment possible for young players to develop.

We are now looking for a passionate, organised and committed Head of Football to help lead and support the operational football side of the club as we continue to grow.

This is a voluntary role, but it is also an important leadership position within the club. We are looking for someone who can provide the consistency, accountability and commitment needed to help deliver a high-quality experience for our players, coaches and families.

The role offers flexibility around work and personal commitments, but does require regular engagement throughout the season, particularly during evenings and weekends.

About the Role

Working closely with the Director of Football, the Head of Football will play a key role in the day-to-day football operations of the club.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Wants hands-on experience in football operations and club management.
  • Is passionate about growing the girls’ game.
  • Enjoys supporting player development and team environments.
  • Wants to make a meaningful impact within grassroots football.

There is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to manage or lead one of the club’s teams on Sundays within the Tandridge Youth Football League.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Football with the operational management of the football programme across the club.
  • Ensure teams are appropriately staffed each week with enough players and substitutes available for fixtures.
  • Help place players in suitable teams and leagues to support both development and enjoyment.
  • Signpost new players into appropriate age groups and teams within the club.
  • Support talented players by helping connect them to appropriate development and professional club pathways.
  • Organise tournaments and additional playing opportunities for teams throughout the season.
  • Ensure all weekend fixtures are appropriately scheduled and communicated.
  • Support team managers with matchday preparation and delivery.
  • Assist with the creation and onboarding of new teams as the club expands.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive and player-centred football culture across the club.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about youth and girls’ football.
  • Organised, dependable and proactive.
  • A strong communicator with players, parents and coaches.
  • Comfortable taking ownership and helping solve problems.
  • Interested in developing their understanding of football operations and grassroots club management.
  • Committed to creating a safe, positive and ambitious environment for young players.

Previous experience in coaching, team management or football administration is beneficial, but not essential. Attitude, reliability and commitment are the most important qualities.

Commitment

This is a volunteer role designed to work flexibly around the successful candidate’s existing work and personal commitments.

However, due to the importance of the position, we are looking for someone able to commit consistently throughout the football season and be actively involved in supporting the club’s weekly operations, particularly around training evenings and Sunday matchdays.

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience in football operations and grassroots club leadership.
  • The opportunity to help shape one of South London’s growing girls’ football clubs.
  • Experience working within a competitive grassroots football environment.
  • Opportunities to develop leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • A chance to positively impact the lives and confidence of young girls through sport.
  • Potential future pathways into coaching, football operations, talent identification or wider football development roles.

Safeguarding

Young Queens Football Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All volunteers are expected to share this commitment. DBS checks and safeguarding requirements may apply.
