Oldham Athletic: Media & Content Executive

Job Description

Oldham Athletic is looking to recruit a Media & Content Executive to play a key role in the day-to-day running of the club’s online channels and wider content output across both digital and non-digital platforms.

 This role includes helping to drive audience growth and fan engagement across all club channels, ensuring consistent platform management and identifying opportunities for content to support wider club objectives.

 The successful candidate will demonstrate a versatile range of skills, from high-quality video editing and social media content creation, to strong and accurate copywriting. You will be responsible for delivering engaging content that enhances the club’s digital presence, supports revenue-generating activity and drives the overall media and marketing output.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

·      Work alongside the media, communications and marketing team, as well as other departments, to help deliver engaging content that drives fan engagement, audience growth and supports key club initiatives.

·      Plan, create and publish written, visual and video content across the club's digital and non-digital platforms.

·      Create original short and long-form video for the club’s digital channels, focusing on innovative and engaging storytelling that resonates with supporters.

·      Identify content opportunities around the first team, fixtures and other club activity to maximise reach and engagement.

·      Produce written content and posts for the club’s website and social media platforms relating to football and non-football departments, ensuring all platforms remain proactive, current and aligned with the club’s tone of voice.

·      Support live matchday social media coverage, including the production of updates, match reports and short-form video content.

·      Conduct interviews with players and staff for use across video and written formats.

·      Monitor social media trends and platform updates, contributing creative ideas to grow engagement and reach.

·      Participate in departmental meetings, offering insight and recommendations to enhance content output and fan engagement.

·      Provide video and photography support at club events when required.

·      Create content and supporting digital assets using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and Photoshop.

·      Produce and maintain high-quality written content for the club’s matchday programme.

·      Support the promotion of club activity across departments through effective use of owned media channels, contributing to wider marketing objectives.

·      Assist in maintaining and updating the websites and social media channels of the club’s non-football departments.

·      Help grow the club’s presence across emerging platforms such as TikTok, creating engaging and innovative content to increase fan interaction and digital reach.

·      Attend all first team matches, home and away, as well as selected youth team and women’s fixtures as required.

 

Essential Skills & Experience

·      Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

·      Experience planning, producing and publishing social media content across multiple platforms, including text, image and video formats.

·      Excellent camera operation and video editing skills.

·      Experience using image and video editing software, particularly Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

·      Strong copywriting and proofreading skills.

·      Availability to work matchdays (including evenings, weekends and pre/post-match), both home and away, as well as other club events outside standard working hours.

·      Full UK driving licence or the ability to travel to various locations as required by the role.

·      Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

·      Effective time management and the ability to manage a varied workload independently.

·      Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
