Role Overview
Fleetwood Town Football Club is seeking caring and committed host families to provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing home environment for our Under-18 Academy players. Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, welcoming, and secure home environment for at least one U18 Academy player.
- Support each player’s personal and academic growth through positive mentoring and pastoral care.
- Offer nutritious meals, including breakfast and evening meals, and lunch/snacks when required (e.g., during illness or when the player remains over the weekend). Nutritional guidelines will be provided by the Club.
- Accommodate players for the duration of their scholarship (typically a full season) or for shorter trial periods as needed.
- Preferably, host two players in separate bedrooms. However, applications from families offering a single room are still welcome.
- Provide access to a furnished bedroom (bed, clothes storage), laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi, typically from Monday to Friday.
- Ensure an appropriate level of supervision based on the age and needs of the player.
- Attend meetings as necessary to support the player’s development.
- Notify the Club immediately of any changes in circumstances that could affect your suitability to host young players.
- Consent to a home inspection by the Club’s Health and Safety Manager, and implement any necessary adjustments.
Safeguarding and Compliance
- This role involves regular contact with young people and requires an Enhanced DBS check for all household members aged 18 or over (including occasional overnight visitors).
- Hosts must be familiar with and adhere to the Club’s safeguarding policies.
- Concerns regarding a child or young person’s welfare must be reported to the Academy’s Designated Safeguarding Officers:
- Host families will receive safeguarding induction and ongoing training to maintain compliance with Club and EFL welfare standards.
Additional Requirements
- This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All past convictions, including spent ones, must be declared.
- Two written references are required.
