Full job description

Assistant Football Coach — Manus Football Academy

Location: Barnsley, South YorkshireJob Type: Part-time / Self-employedPay: From £15.00 per hour, with opportunities to progress

Manus Football Academy is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and ambitious Assistant Football Coach to join our growing coaching team in Barnsley.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young players and wants to develop as a coach. Previous coaching experience is beneficial, but we’re equally interested in the right person with the right attitude who is willing to learn.

You will initially work alongside an experienced coach, assisting with structured football development sessions for children of different ages and abilities. Our coaching methods, session structure and development philosophy will be taught to you, with ongoing guidance and support provided.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply be handed a group and left to get on with it. We want to develop the right person over time, with the opportunity to progress from Assistant Coach into leading sessions and taking on greater responsibility within the academy.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Energetic, enthusiastic and confident
  • Physically fit and comfortable demonstrating football practices
  • Reliable, punctual and professional
  • Excellent with children and young players
  • Willing to listen, learn and take feedback
  • Passionate about helping players improve
  • Comfortable working as part of a coaching team
  • Able to communicate professionally with players, parents and staff
  • Available for regular evening/weekend coaching
  • Interested in developing with Manus Football Academy long term

Coaching experience/qualifications:Previous football coaching experience and FA qualifications are desirable but not essential for the right candidate. We are willing to support someone who demonstrates the right attitude, commitment and potential.

Successful candidates will need to meet the appropriate DBS and safeguarding requirements before undertaking relevant work with children.

What we provide:Structured coaching guidance, ongoing mentoring, training in the Manus coaching methodology and opportunities to progress within the academy. As your ability and responsibilities develop, there will be opportunities for additional sessions and progression.

Application process

We’re deliberately taking our time to find the right person, rather than simply filling the position quickly.

To apply, please submit your CV along with a short introduction explaining:

  • Your football/coaching background
  • Why you’re interested in joining Manus Football Academy
  • Any relevant experience working with children or young people
  • Your current coaching qualifications, if applicable
  • Your general evening/weekend availability

Suitable applicants will then be contacted regarding the next stage of the application process.
