Football Coach - Junior Premier League Head Coach (u7-U11)

Job Description

Full job description

First Touch FC | Hull | Part-Time / Casual | £Competitive

Love developing young players? Want to take your coaching to the next level?

First Touch FC is looking for passionate, ambitious and reliable football coaches to join our Junior Premier League (JPL) programme.

We are looking for coaches to take responsibility for up to two U7–U11 JPL teams within our Foundation Phase programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for a coach who wants to be more than someone who simply delivers sessions. You'll have the opportunity to lead a team, develop players, build relationships with families and become an important part of the First Touch FC coaching team.

We are a growing, community-driven football organisation based in Hull, delivering high-quality football experiences through Junior Premier League football, technical development programmes, football camps and 1-to-1 coaching.

Our philosophy is simple:

Develop players. Build confidence. Create a love of football.

The Role

As a JPL Head Coach, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day coaching and development of your team.

Your role will include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, age-appropriate training sessions
  • Coaching and managing your team during JPL fixtures
  • Supporting the technical, tactical, physical and personal development of players
  • Creating a positive, challenging and enjoyable learning environment
  • Communicating effectively with players and parents
  • Providing feedback and supporting individual player development
  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour, organisation and professionalism
  • Working alongside the wider First Touch FC coaching team
  • Contributing ideas and helping us continually improve our programme

You'll have the freedom to develop your own coaching style while working within the First Touch FC philosophy and framework.

Typical Coaching Commitment

Monday evenings: 18:00–21:00
Saturday mornings: JPL fixtures at the JPL Central Venue in Castleford

Coaches may be responsible for one or two teams, depending on experience and availability.

Sessions generally follow school terms, with coaching continuing during the summer period.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for coaches who are passionate about football and passionate about working with young players.

You don't have to be the finished article. We're interested in coaches who want to learn, develop and build a career in football coaching.

Ideally, you will have:

  • FA Level 2 / UEFA C or above, or be actively working towards it
  • Experience coaching children aged 7–11
  • Previous grassroots, academy or development-centre coaching experience
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • The ability to manage groups of young players confidently
  • A positive and engaging coaching style
  • The ability to work with players of different abilities and backgrounds
  • Reliability and professionalism
  • A genuine desire to help young players improve

Experience of leading a team or working within an academy environment would be an advantage.

Most importantly, we're looking for coaches who care about the players they work with and want to make a genuine difference to their footballing journey.
