First Team Lead Coach

Job Description

Knaphill Football Club are looking to appoint a First Team Lead Coach to join our existing senior management team.

Competing at Step 5 in the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division South, we are looking for an experienced and ambitious coach who can bring their own ideas, standards and coaching identity into an established first-team environment.

Working alongside First Team Manager Mike Woolgar and Assistant Manager Daryl Cooper-Smith, the successful candidate will take a leading role in the planning and delivery of our first-team coaching programme.

This is not simply an opportunity to run sessions. We want somebody who can take genuine ownership of the coaching environment, challenge and develop our players, and add another dimension to what we already have.

The role

The successful candidate will:

  • Take ownership of the planning and delivery of first-team training sessions.

  • Develop a clear and effective coaching structure across the training programme.

  • Work closely with the First Team Manager and Assistant Manager on team preparation and player development.

  • Help translate the management team's football objectives into effective work on the training pitch.

  • Bring new ideas, detail and energy to the existing environment.

  • Contribute to match preparation, tactical development and opposition planning where appropriate.

  • Build strong relationships with an established senior first-team squad.

  • Contribute positively to the standards and culture of Knaphill FC.

Who we are looking for

We are particularly interested in speaking to coaches with experience in senior first-team football, the non-league pyramid, professional or semi-professional academy environments, or another high-performance football setting.

Previous Step 5 experience is not a requirement.

We would particularly welcome applications from coaches currently working at a higher level who may be looking for greater ownership and influence within a senior first-team environment.

Coaching qualifications are welcomed, but the appointment will be based on the overall quality, experience, ideas and suitability of the individual rather than qualifications alone.
