Inspire the next generation to love football

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and engaging Football Coach to deliver two weekly after-school football sessions at a primary school in Southampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a coach who loves working with young players and knows how to create sessions that are fun, inclusive and full of opportunities to learn.

You will deliver one girls’ session and one boys’ session each week, helping children build confidence, develop their football skills and, most importantly, enjoy playing the game.

The role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, age-appropriate football sessions that keep children active, engaged and excited to return each week.

Your sessions should:

  • Create a fun, positive and welcoming environment for every player
  • Increase children's engagement and enjoyment in football
  • Give players plenty of opportunities to be active and involved
  • Help children develop their technical football skills and understanding of the game
  • Build confidence, teamwork and positive behaviours
  • Adapt activities to suit different abilities and levels of experience
  • Ensure every child feels included and has the opportunity to succeed
  • Maintain excellent standards of safety and safeguarding at all times

We are not looking for someone who simply puts on a game and watches from the sidelines. We want a coach who is energetic, encouraging and actively involved, creating meaningful football experiences for every child.

Essential qualifications

Applicants must hold:

  • FA Level 1 in Coaching Football / Introduction to Coaching Football or higher
  • Current Enhanced DBS
  • Valid First Aid qualification
  • FA Safeguarding Children qualification

About you

You will ideally be someone who:

  • Has experience coaching primary-school-aged children
  • Communicates brilliantly with young players
  • Is enthusiastic, positive and encouraging
  • Can manage groups confidently and professionally
  • Understands how to make football enjoyable while still supporting player development
  • Is dependable and punctual
  • Takes safeguarding and the welfare of children seriously
  • Can commit consistently to both weekly sessions during school term time
