Volunteer Health, Safety & Compliance Lead

Job Description

Knaphill FC is looking for an experienced Health & Safety / Compliance professional to help us build the right structure, processes and standards around our Pavilion and wider club operations.

We are effectively starting from scratch, so this role needs someone who not only understands good health, safety and compliance practice, but also enjoys building practical systems and creating processes from the ground up.

Your first priority will be to review our current Pavilion operation, identify any key risks or compliance gaps and help us create a clear, prioritised action plan.

You will then help establish a practical framework covering areas such as:

  • Health & Safety processes and responsibilities
  • Risk assessments and safe working practices
  • Fire safety and emergency procedures
  • Accident and incident reporting
  • First aid arrangements
  • COSHH and safe storage
  • Kitchen, bar and hospitality compliance
  • Cleaning and hygiene standards
  • Statutory inspections and servicing records
  • Regular compliance checklists
  • Defect and action reporting
  • Clear ownership and escalation of issues

We are not looking to create unnecessary bureaucracy. We need somebody who can use their professional expertise to create simple, sensible systems that work within a volunteer-run football club.

There will be some additional time required initially while the framework is established. Once in place, we expect the ongoing commitment to be approximately one hour per week at the ground carrying out routine checks, reviewing issues and helping ensure actions are followed through.

The role is primarily about oversight, structure and compliance. You will not be expected to personally carry out maintenance or repairs, although someone who is practically minded and happy to help resolve occasional minor issues would be very welcome.

We are looking for someone with genuine professional experience in Health & Safety, Compliance, Facilities Management, Risk Management, Construction, Hospitality Operations or a similar regulated environment.

Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent would be highly desirable, although substantial professional experience is equally important.

No previous football experience is required.

This could particularly suit someone based locally to Knaphill, Woking or the surrounding area who wants to use their expertise to become involved with a growing community football club.

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Benefits include:

  • Free admission to all Knaphill FC home games
  • The opportunity to become involved in other areas of the club as much or as little as you would like
  • Genuine ownership of building an important function from the ground up
  • The opportunity to use your professional expertise to make a tangible difference within a local football club
