Location: Primary school in Blacon

Day: Wednesday only

Hours: 12.30pm to 4.30pm

Start date: September 2026

Opportunity for Additional Hours

This role begins with one consistent afternoon every Wednesday.

There may also be opportunities to increase your hours and work additional days across our partner schools, before and after school clubs and holiday camps.

You know how to make children feel confident, included and excited about being active.

You may already coach sport in the evenings or at weekends and want regular school experience. You may be studying or working part time and looking for a rewarding role that fits around your week.

Vara Sports and Education works with more than 35 primary schools across Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales.

Our growing team of more than 75 staff supports around 10,000 children every week.

You will work consistently in the same Chester primary school every Wednesday.

No being moved between unfamiliar schools.

No feeling like a number.

You will build relationships with the children, teachers and wider school community.

What Your Wednesday Will Look Like

You will arrive prepared and ready to bring PE to life.

You will deliver engaging lessons across the primary age range, using planning and resources provided by Vara.

You could be teaching football, athletics, gymnastics, dance, invasion games or fundamental movement skills.

You will make activities accessible for children of different abilities and confidence levels.

You will encourage effort, teamwork and enjoyment while managing behaviour calmly and professionally.

There may also be an opportunity to lead an after school sports club as part of the afternoon.

A few months into the role, the children will recognise you as their coach.

They will know your routines.

The school will trust you.

You will finish each Wednesday knowing you have helped children feel more confident, active and successful.

• Deliver high quality PE lessons across primary year groups
• Follow the planning and resources provided
• Adapt activities for different ages, abilities and confidence levels
• Make PE enjoyable, active and inclusive
• Demonstrate skills clearly and safely
• Manage behaviour calmly and consistently
• Encourage teamwork, effort and positive attitudes
• Build strong relationships with children and school staff
• Use equipment safely and responsibly
• Report any concerns promptly and professionally
• Maintain excellent safeguarding standards at all times

Experience coaching children is important.

School experience would be valuable, but it is not essential if you have strong coaching experience and the confidence to lead a primary class.

A Level 2 sports qualification or a degree in sport would be welcomed.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be helpful, but it is not essential if you can travel reliably to the school.
