Notts County Football Club, now universally recognised as the world's oldest Football League club, was formed in 1862. Official formation followed two years later as the 'Notts. Foot Ball Club'. Pre-dating The Football Association, the club initially played matches of its own devising at Park Hollow, inside the grounds of the old Nottingham Castle.
On 26th July 2019, Danish brothers Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz completed their takeover to bring an end to the most turbulent period in our history. In doing so, they became the club's youngest owners and immediately set to work readying the club for a return to the English Football League (EFL). The hard work of many behind the scenes and a revolution of the footballing identity on the pitch led to the club’s promotion from the National League via the play-offs in 2023.
We are proud that our club has returned to the EFL, instantly returned to Category 3 status, and we continue to be a community driven club that has provided fun, enjoyment and a sense of belonging for the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire for generations. By working together, we continue to inspire active change for those we serve.
