This role comes at an exciting time for the club as we continue to move forward with plans for both a new training facility and stadium. The club are looking for an ambitious, motivated and strategic-thinking skilled Groundsperson for the lead role at the club’s training facility.

The successful candidate will report to the Head Groundsman and Head of Operations & Facilities, working closely with football staff to ensure all training surfaces are maintained to the highest possible standard.

Job Summary

The club are looking for an ambitious, motivated and strategical thinking skilled Grounds Person for the lead role in the maintenance of the clubs training facility pitches.

The successful candidate will report to the Head Groundsman and Head of Operations & Facilities, working closely with football staff to ensure all training surfaces are maintained to the highest possible standard.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day maintenance, preparation, and presentation of all pitches at the training facilities.
  • Delivery of scheduled turf management programs including cutting, feeding, aeration, irrigation, and renovations.
  • Ensuring training pitches are consistently available and maintained to a high standard for daily use.
  • Operation, care, and routine maintenance of grounds machinery and equipment.
  • Monitoring pitch quality, usage, wear, and recovery.
  • Compliance with all health & safety and environmental regulations.
  • Liaising with coaching, performance, and football operations staff to meet training requirements.
  • Providing support at the stadium and on matchdays when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – GROUNDSPERSON

Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience in sports turf or grounds maintenance.
  • SVQ II or above in Amenity Sports Turf.
  • PA1/PA6.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, weekends, and occasional evenings.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance in a football environment.
  • PA2

Skills

Essential:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills and understanding of working in a professional environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability and professionalism.

Desirable:

  • Rapport building with football staff, players and other members of the operational team.
  • Manage workload efficiently within demanding timeframes.

Desirable:
