Battersea Park Rangers (BPR) was set up by a group of school friends in 1999. Only 14 at the time, they were playing a friendly game in Battersea Park every weekend and decided that they wanted to create an official team.
Playing their first game in 1999, they progressed through youth football and into adult leagues. A core of that group are still playing in the Southern Sunday Graham Dodd Premier Division and over the years upwards of 100 players have pulled on the shirt.
First and foremost, the team have always been friends who enjoy playing football together in the right spirit but there has been a lot of success along the way. Traditionally a strong cup team, with various famous finals at Gander Green Lane in recent years, we finally won that elusive first league title in 2017/18. Needless to say, there have been a number of heatrbraking near misses too!
In 2019 a new youth team was created to give a new generation the chance to experience the magic of BPR. Starting with a collection of boys from across South West London, the team will strive to create their own unique history at first in the London County Saturday Youth Football League. Who knows, in another 20 years, members of this new team may still be going strong and setting up a youth team for an as yet, unborn generation!
