Founded in 1879, we entered the footballing world with the name Swindon AFC, soon becoming Spartans and finally Swindon Town FC in 1883. The club turned professional in 1894 as a founder of the southern league and competed in the then Western League. Fall forward many years to recent history and the club has enjoyed many high moments through lifting the EFL Trophy with Don Rogers, competing in European Competitions in the 1970’s to gaining promotion to the Premier league in the early 1990’s.
