Full Job Description
Title: Head of Goalkeeping
Responsible for: Glasgow City goalkeepers and goalkeeping coaches.
Main Purpose of the Job
The Head of Goalkeeping will be responsible for overseeing all Club goalkeepers and for the delivery and planning of all training and match day sessions for the First Team. Working with the Academy Manager and Head of Player Development, the Head of Goalkeeping will ensure goalkeeping coaching provision and coach education and development at all Academy levels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, prepare and deliver structured goalkeeping coaching to the Glasgow City First Team goalkeepers including a comprehensive pre-season training programme, in preparation for competitive matches.
2. To have overall responsibility for the development of all goalkeepers at the club, implementing individual performance development plans at First Team and working with the Head of Player Development to ensure delivery of the individual plans for all goalkeepers within the Academy.
3. To design the goalkeeping curriculum and training around the principles of the club game model and playing philosophy and ensure its delivery across the club.
4. Responsible for the match-day preparation and performance of the First Team goalkeepers, including pre-match and post-match goalkeeping analysis.
5. To assist the Academy Manager with the recruitment of Academy goalkeeping coaches where necessary.
6. To provide support and coach development for all Academy goalkeeping coaches.
7. To attend a minimum of two academy sessions per week to oversee and assist with the overall academy goalkeeping curriculum and coach and player development.
8. To liaise with national team coaches and loan clubs where applicable regarding Glasgow City goalkeepers.
9. To ensure that all goalkeepers adhere to the Glasgow City values and show a high level of respect and discipline.
10. To follow club policies and to implement best practice at all times.
11. To carry out other tasks as required by the Head Coach and Chief Executive, including attendance at commercial and partnership events.
Experience/Competencies
- Hold or be currently working towards UEFA Goalkeeping A Licence.
- Children’s Wellbeing in Scottish Football Certificate.
- Experience in working with the Hudl platform or similar.
- Previous experience in the women’s game and a good knowledge of female goalkeepers.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent planning and preparation skills.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about football and youth development.
- Basic IT skills.
- A flexible attitude to work.
- The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- The ability to remain polite and courteous in difficult situations.
- The right to live and work in the UK.
