What is the role?
We are currently looking for a work placement student to join our Player Insights Department for the 2021/22 season. The successful applicants will be responsible for supporting the work of the Lead Data Scientist and Data Analysts in delivering insight and creating data analysis tools.

We are looking for candidates who can be part of a multi-disciplinary team of people, be proactive and innovative in their approach and communicate effectively at all levels.
This placement MUST form part of the overall degree programme in order for you to be considered.
The competencies which are required include:
Appreciation and willingness to work in an elite sports performance setting.
Experience of working with large complex data sets.
Proficient using Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Experience of utilising data visualisation software (e.g. Tableau & Power BI)
Experience of extracting data for analysis using SQL
Knowledge of sports science monitoring concepts (Acute:Chronic Work load, Khamis Roche maturation etc)
Essential Qualifications (including certifications):
Currently undertaking bachelor or masters level degree (within Sports Science, Compute Science or Mathematical background)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to be able to communicate information to non-technical individuals.
Good team player – desire to develop and collaborate with others.
Inquisitive mind-set with desire to interrogate data.
A strong work ethic and proactive attitude.
Highly organised and a self-starter.
Quality focus – takes responsibility for ensuring a high quality of work.
Drive and energy – demonstrate enthusiasm and is personally committed to achieving objectives set.
Self-development – is receptive to feedback about own behaviour, strengths, and areas for improvement.
Knowledge of statistical methods (e.g. regression, ANOVA, cluster analysis).
Working knowledge of computer language to extract data and apply statistical analysis to (DAX, python, R etc.).
