The First Team Al Wasl Fc Doctor is responsible for overseeing the medical care of first-team players, ensuring their fitness, health, and well-being. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing injuries and illnesses, providing emergency medical care, and collaborating with other medical and performance staff to optimize player performance and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Player Medical Care & Treatment
- Provide direct medical care, injury assessment, and treatment to first-team players.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic injuries, illnesses, and medical conditions affecting performance.
- Develop personalized treatment and rehabilitation plans in coordination with physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, and interventions in line with medical best practices and anti-doping regulations.
2. Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
- Collaborate with physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, and sports scientists to develop injury prevention strategies.
- Conduct pre-season medical screenings to assess player fitness and injury risks.
- Oversee the medical aspects of injury rehabilitation, ensuring safe and timely return-to-play protocols.
- Monitor workload and fatigue levels to prevent overuse injuries.
3. Matchday & Training Ground Duties
- Attend all first-team matches (home and away) and training sessions to provide immediate medical support.
- Be responsible for on-field emergency care, including handling concussions, fractures, and other critical injuries.
- Ensure all emergency medical equipment (AEDs, oxygen, trauma kits) is available and up to standard.
- Work closely with coaching staff to manage player availability based on medical assessments.
4. Medical Compliance & Record Keeping
- Maintain detailed and confidential medical records for all first-team players.
- Ensure compliance with FIFA, UEFA, and league medical regulations, including anti-doping policies.
- Provide medical reports and injury updates to club management and coaching staff.
- Stay updated on the latest medical research, treatments, and sports medicine advancements.
5. Multi-Disciplinary Team Collaboration
- Work alongside physiotherapists, sports scientists, nutritionists, psychologists, and strength & conditioning staff to optimize player health and performance.
- Participate in medical and performance meetings, offering expert opinions on player conditions.
- Advise players on health, wellness, nutrition, and recovery strategies.
6. Emergency & Crisis Management
- Lead the club’s medical emergency response plan and provide pitch-side emergency care.
- Manage concussion protocols, ensuring safe return-to-play decisions.
- Coordinate player referrals to specialists when necessary.
- Act as the primary medical liaison between the club and hospitals or external healthcare providers.
